Martholme Viaduct Description

This page is to help us gather historic information about the viaduct. It was open as a concessionary footpath until 2000 and closed until 2005 because of the Foot & Mouth outbreak. Since 2005 the landowner has resisted the reopening of the footpath. It could link the Hyndburn and Padiham Greenways and make it possible to walk from Great Harwood to Read on an off road route. Please share you memories so we can gather historic evidence of its use and the local support for reopening the viaduct and a bridleway.
