Maryvale Institute International Catholic College

The official page of Maryvale Institute, a Catholic, distance-learning college, based in the Archdiocese of Birmingham (UK), which delivers courses across the world.

Since its establishment over 35 years ago as the Archdiocesan centre for Catechetics and Adult Education, Maryvale has remained true to its founding mission to build up the Church by forming lay Catholics in a deeper knowledge of their faith. Over that time it has earned an international reputation for the quality of its teaching and its fidelity to the Catholic Church, and now provides courses at all levels to students from every part of the British Isles and around the world.

In the last few years, many of Maryvale's programmes have been updated to respond better to the needs of the contemporary Church, and all Maryvale’s degree courses have undergone revalidation by its various academic partners, The Open University, Liverpool Hope University and the Ecole Cathédrale in Paris. It is through that latter association that Maryvale is approved by the Holy See to incorporate a Higher Institute of Religious Sciences offering ecclesiastical degrees.

The enduring legacy of Maryvale’s association with Blessed John Henry Newman, its historic shrine to the Sacred Heart of Jesus - the bicentenary of which was celebrated in 2014 - and the prayerful presence of the Bridgettine Sisters all contribute to make Maryvale Institute so much more than just a place of learning. It is truly a place where the Christian heart and mind are both nourished and formed to enable the lay faithful to play their full part in the life and mission of the Church.
