Beautiful country house hotel, spa and golf resort. The staff are always so friendly the service is impeccable and all in elegant surroundings. The food and service never disappoints.

Came here for a wedding, I didn't stay myself but a few friends told me that the rooms and service were lovely. The food we had here was amazing and the views are beautiful!

A beautiful location, staff were excellent throughout. Food in the library was superb (have the trio of beef, trust me!). Played a round of golf on the Sunday, course was in good condition, a few bits could have done with tidying and overgrown, but not enough to detract. Some tough holes tho! My wife went to the spa longer than I did but that was also of the same excellent standard. Can't wait to go back.

Stayed at Matfen Hall for a special birthday weekend away. Loved every minute there, very relaxing, welcoming staff and the food is extremely high quality. Can't recommend highly enough!

Beautiful location with very friendly, professional and helpful staff. Food was amazing. Massage was fantastic. Good gym facilities. Spent 4 wonderful days there and would have happily stayed longer.

The property is being continuesly updated, so everything looks fresh and clean. The service, especially from reception and administration staff, is impeccable. The food is really good too.
It is always such a pleasure to come back and unwind here!

We went to view the hotel as a potential venue for our upcoming wedding. It is about 30 minutes drive from Newcastle city centre so not too far out. We did not try any of the food or stay in accomodation so I cannot comment on that. The staff and Events Manager were very friendly and helpful. The rooms and space available to us were fantastic and there were several options available to us. We loved The Great Hall, especially with the sun shining theough the stained glass windows and the staircase leading towards the aisle. This venue is definitely a strong contender at the moment!

Fantastic facilities and superb surroundings. Fantastic food but very disappointing service in the restaurant, one of our party received their starter when nobody else had, it was there for ten minutes when another waiter took it away, when the starters eventually arrived mine was forgot about and has to wit even longer. We did receive a bottle of wine free of charge but was made to feel that we shouldn't have said anything, not a nice attitude from the restaurant manager. Apart from the poor restaurant service, we enjoyed our stay.
