Afternoon MB 😘
It is with an extremely heavy heart that I write this post.
Over the past few days I’ve been in a constant battle, torn between my head and heart - whether to close the school or stay open due to the coronavirus pandemic !
... As you are aware myself and miss Lucie are both pregnant, which puts us into the high risk category, our other members of staff have been more than accommodating to help us out and cover where necessary but the more safety measures we put in place, the harder it is becoming to keep normality and a sense of calm to our classes.
Essentially I wanted to keep some normality for our students and of course I’m concerned financially how long this will last, I worry if we’ve got a business to come back to or if we’ll even manage to keep both studios open but also I know the seriousness of this crisis and I feel I have a duty of care to keep our staff , students and extended families safe. I need to minimise the risk as much as possible.
It is for this reason we have decided that we will close after classes this evening (Wednesday 18th March)
We would really appreciate as much support at this time as not only myself but my staff work on a self employed basis and are doing everything we can to ensure there is a school left to return to after the crisis is over.
I have had so many supportive messages from parents which is overwhelming!
Over the 12 years I’ve been teaching I’ve worked extra hours for no extra cost. Miss Baker over 58 years has helped numerous families who have struggled with fees, been understanding with late fees. Done extra unpaid time at home sorting music, costumes, offering advice and trying to be a friend / support / councillor (the list goes on) to everyone.
We do have strategies in place and have an emergency meeting tomorrow to finalised the proposed ideas ;
We plan to have videos in place from this weekend where children can access them online to practice at home as well as our teaching staff posting regular activities , challenges and work out plans to help keep progression flowing amongst our dancers. Once we’ve got to gist with it we also plan to do virtual lessons in some cases too. We will of course update you over the coming days.
I’m so sorry that it has come to this but ultimately health comes first TO EVERYONE 😘

Apologies but due to the current guidelines issued from the government , the RAD have cancelled our exam session tomorrow and will re schedule for when this crisis is over.

Parent and pupil notice
As Coronavirus is becoming more and more of a concern, we just want to reassure you that we are taking every measure possible to ensure the safety of all students and families.
All surfaces , door handles and floors have been disinfected and will continue to be on a daily basis. As we all work closely with our students, hand hygiene has always been a top priority and continues to be throughout this outbreak. Encouraging regular hand washing and hygi...ene gels that are around the studios.
Could we ask that any students who encounter a new contagious cough , fever & flu like symptoms suggesting coronavirus to stay off for at least 7 days to recoup and self isolate. Also if any families have any close relatives with low immune disorders or receiving cancer treatment, that they assess the risk factors of coming into contact with those around them.
Other than that it’s business as usual and we will continue to be open until being told by the government otherwise. The RAD and IDTA are continually keeping in touch with us , with regards to our business guidelines in this current predicament.
