Do you have a loose uPVC door handle like the one in this video? If so, please change them now. Why? In the long run, it will lead to the premature wearing of the gearbox, which will require replacing. If the gearbox fails, they are designed to fail safe so that you could potentially be locked out the property.

A safe is only safe when the door is shut and locked. The safe pictured above was left open for 15 mins in full view of the landing above in a shopping centre. My advice to any owners of a safe is this. If you need to put something in or take something out of your safe, do it and do it quickly as you will never know who is watching you. Firstly, for those with UpVC or a metal door, a multi locking point system is an insurance compliance must. If you lift your door handle and a number of hooks or deadbolts protrudes from the inside of the door, then you have a multi locking point system. However, it is only as strong as its weakest point and the weakest point is the euro cylinder (the part you stick the key into).

This is a perfect example of a euro cylinder that is too big for the euro profile mortice lock. So what? This is vulnerable to a break in method called euro cylinder snapping, a 10 sec burglary. There are two options: replace the euro cylinder with a British Standard 3 star cylinder, which guards against cylinder snapping or add a euro cylinder guard.
