About Medway Fine Printmakers Cic

An artist run not-for-profit print studio with a programme of short courses, exhibitions, events and projects. A collaboration between Xtina Lamb & Adam Piper, run as a community interest company by Medway Fine Printmakers CIC.

Medway Fine Printmakers Cic Description

A friendly community of printmakers in a historic area and a fantastic range of printmaking equipment with which to make fine prints on paper and textiles.

We run short courses and a weekly open-access print club, take part in Medway’s Open Studios and host our own events. Our print equipment is housed amongst large active studios, and we have created a welcoming place where you can drop in and meet artists working and see the art made here at INTRA.

Facilities include: a Rochat etching press, Albion press for linocut or woodcut relief printing, a screen printing studio with vacuum printing beds and large exposure unit, , textile printing tables, offset litho press, Print Gocco, Screenfax and Thermofax machines for smaller instant photo-screens, Adana letterpress machines, heat press, digital cutter for vinyl and paper and a design library with 100s of illustrated and vintage books.

We are located in an art deco fronted building between the Limehouse Thai restaurant and The Ship pub, on the high street and near the river, where Rochester meets Chatham.

It's the Wayzgoose Print Fair this Saturday 8th December...

Look at this lovely calendar featuring historic Kent locations around Cranbrook and Sissinghurst. The sales are raising money for a very good cause, and it's designed by one of our regulars in the print studio at INTRA - Suzanne from Grey & Bruce.

This Wednesday our open access print studio is closed for a little holiday break. Normal service resumes on 17th October - we're usually open every Wednesday from 11am to 9pm so that printmakers can come in and use our screen printing studio, etching press, book press, Risograph machine, thermofax, photopolymer exposure unit and all the other print equipment we have at INTRA.

Here's a round up page listing everything we're hosting at INTRA for the Medway Print Festival, with print workshops for adults and families, a lovely exhibition by Paul Jerome, and a Zine & DIY publishing fair.

Open Access is still on today, though it's likely we'll close early around 6.30pm. Please let us know if you're planning to come along, but we wouldn't advise driving - the snow is thick in Medway and there's more on the way this afternoon.

An interesting competition for printmakers, especially if you're working with experimental techniques. http://www.onpapercontest.com/

Sorry there's no Open Access for the print studio today as Xtina is ill. Get in touch though if you'd like to come in another day this week. Apologies for the short notice.

Great to see the GoccoPro system coming down in price with this mini version (£1750 +VAT). A super fast way of making screens that are identical to the thermofax ones we currently make at the studio. I'd immediately be working out the best way to transfer the mesh to a plastic screen that can be kept rather than this system of throwing it away after use. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44gOJ6T5A d0&feature=youtu.be

MFP gift vouchers make a thoughtful present for someone who would love to spend a creative day printmaking. We have a range of prices ready to buy on our website, tying in with our course prices and open access sessions - starting at £20, but you can also request any amount, and they can be used to buy prints or equipment from our shop too. We'll send you a nice hand printed voucher to give to your loved one. https://medwayfineprintmakers.co.uk/2014/ …/18/gift-vouchers/

The linocuts are being carved, the Risograph is running, the etching press is a-rolling, and the screen prints are being squeegeed - all in preparation for the winter Wayzgoose Print Fair, a feast of inky goodness. Hand printed goodies galore and a chance to meet the makers who create beautiful artworks at INTRA's print studio. As ever, the wild and crazy 20p Wayzgoose Tombola will offer a chance to win printmaking courses, as well as (oh you lucky people) equally exciting ti...ns of potatoes, or maybe xmas socks. You'll also be able to print your own free letterpressed souvenir, and rubber stamp two unique badges or fridge magnets for a bargain £2. It's free to get in, and you can pick up original art prints for as little as £10, and there will be cards, wrapping paper, rubber stamps, printmaking kits, textiles and the first 10 people through the door will get a free lucky bag.
