What a hard week it has been but the last couple days getting the hook down on some of Weymouth/ Portland’s inshore reefs showing some good sign of life. What really topped it off was a new boat records.
Martyn was having a tough days fishing until the last half hour where he managed to hook into this monster Thornback being 18lb 10ozs what was even better he caught it on one of my match rods nice light tip and 4.2meters long so that gave him a good scrap. Safe to say his wor...k mates will Never hear the end of that.
Another special mention. Gary caught his personal best bass and Meerkats second double figure weighing 11lb 4ozs what was even more special Gary wanted to let her go to live another day. Fair play mate
Some more big fishing these next few days so fingers crossed.

Another week over with. This time we have had the England home nation team practicing Monday and Tuesday then the official practice on Thursday followed by the competition on Friday and Saturday. It’s been a excellent week with a great bunch of anglers who really have a passion for our sport and who spend an amazing amount of time travelling around practicing and making some serious amount of rigs.
After 2 tight days fishing on the score board with only 1 or 2 fish in it... all the time the Irish come out on top closely followed by England 3rd wales and 4th Scotland.
Congratulations to Ireland for winning the 2019 home nations and also thank you Team England for a brilliant Week putting up with me on are practice days, remember always look out for that 24ft sea gull you just never know when it will appear again.
Thank you for visiting Weymouth and we are look forward to seeing some of you back at the Europeans in September.

First day of the homes over and done with difficult conditions most of the day but credit to these keen anglers who know how to stick with it and never let there head drop when it isn’t going well.
Nice flurry of high scoring fish towards the end what mixed all the scores up for the teams, unfortunately the same forecast tomorrow so good luck to every one.
Here’s a nice little video of Meerkat steaming out to the first mark. Always looks a little bit bouncy but when the cats stop it’s amazing how calm they become.

What a monster surprise catch for us today whilst fishing for Tope. New boat record Smooth hound at 19lb 8oz, not such a monster in other parts of the country but for Weymouth it’s pretty special. Well done that man.

Rusty reel competition 2019 (Meerkat)
This year myself and lyle nominated 2 Target species on Day 1 and 2 then at the end of day 2 we would add up are best 4 specimen percentages together to get are final score. Sounds complicated but here’s meerkats and Supanovas over the 2 days.
So Day 1 Target species Turbot or Brill and Plaice.
... Meerkat Brill 2lb 12oz = 55% Plaice 3lb 3oz= 70.83%
Supanova Turbot 4lb 8ozs 30% Plaice 3lb 6ozs 75%
Day 2 Pollock and Spurdog
Meerkat Pollock 10lb 2oz 63.28% Spurdog 21lb 12ozs 181.25%
Supanova Pollock 7lb 43.75% Spurdogs 14lb 12ozs 122.91
Total for Supanova was 271.66%
And a total of 370.36% for Meerkat what was enough for the West Sussex sea angling club to win the Rusty reel 2019
Thank you guys for a great couple of days and coming down to Weymouth. Looking forward to next year all ready.
Tight lines for the rest of the season. Ryan and lyle

Well another week over and done with and now the weather starts to beat us once again. But an extremely enjoyable week back out there catching all sorts from Pollock and the first Cod of year to Spurs and Blondes the towards the end of the week on the Flatfish.
High light of the week was a brilliant evening trip on Thursday for Younge Sams 10th birthday with his parents and his friend Lola who were down on holiday at the same time. Plenty of Dogfish though out the evening to ...keep the action going but what really top it off was birthday boy caught a stunning 11lb 12oz undulate and Lola caught the new boat record Smoothound at 16lb 2ozs. All this just 2 miles out side the harbour and what made it even better it was there first time ever sea fishing.
Fish through out the week.
Pollock to 14lb First Cod to 5-6lb Blondes to 16lb 6ozs First Tope to 17lb 8ozs Spurs to 17-18lb Turbot to 7lb 4ozs Plaice to 2lb 12ozs Brill to 3lb 6ozs Bull Huss to 12lb 4ozs
Now let’s see what this week brings.
