I‚Äôm appealing for your support friends. I run an organisation called MelanomaMe. with my friend Elaine. If you don‚Äôt know what melanoma is, it is one of the most... aggressive types of cancer, that is becoming much more common in younger people and the treatment is not only very aggressive, it also can‚Äôt ‚Äėcure‚Äô melanoma. I was diagnosed with melanoma 3 years ago and have been on this rollercoaster ever since. I was absolutely lost in my journey emotionally and mentally and found no support at all out there. It was because of this I decided to use my experience and flip it into something positive. MelanomaMe. has provided vital support to people effected by the disease from either their own diagnosis, a loved ones or the absolute crippling grief from the loss of a friend, mother, father, husband, wife, child.... As well as this we have trained hairdressers, beauty therapists, podiatrists etc on how to spot melanoma on other people. We have raised awareness with over 40,000 people in the workplace and we have grown our team of 11 counsellors and 3 support workers who all (including us) dedicate their time to MelanomaMe. voluntarily. We have the opportunity to ‚Äúwin‚ÄĚ funding but desperately need people‚Äôs votes. If we win - the money will be used to provide much needed support to people effected by the disease as well as building networks, providing our clients with holistic care and reducing loneliness. Although men make up only 40% of diagnoses, they make up 60% of deaths. Women at stage 4 have approx 25% chance of surviving stage 4 melanoma 5 year post diagnosis as opposed to only 10% for men.

Today I met the ladies and councillors at MelanomaMe and just want to say what an amazing Job you do. Thank you for listening and supporting me and my mam through the long journey we are on to try to come to terms with the loss of my Dad to this awful disease. It means so much to us. We are so glad we have you. Thank you ÔŅĹ

Today I completed the therapist melanoma awareness course and can honestly say I’m so pleased I went and done it, these ladies gave me a so much information it was very eye opening, so many things i didnt know or realise could be associated with melanoma.

I’ve came away feeling like I want to be more involved, I need to make people more aware, so firstly I’m going to start with my family. Its also give me more confidence to approach my clients if I need to ever. Hopefully think of something to help with the funding side along the way....100% recommend doing this course!

I attended a course today with Elaine and Kerry and they were just absolutely lovely! So welcoming and kind! I have learnt so much from them today and now have been inspired to go help raise awareness of Melanoma, what the signs are but also how to protect yourself against it. They truly are inspiring women and are working so hard! Thank you for letting me be involved in this and I hope that I can help others like you both have. I am a hairdresser and I Completed this course today and so pleased I did. There is so much more to know about melanoma than we imagine, it can‚Äôt always be a simple ‚Äėcut it out ‚Äė and not typically moles that you might imagine, brilliant course the girls are fabulous and doing an amazing job, we all need to become more knowledgeable on this subject we should all attend this course. I‚Äôve signposted clients to get checked out already and my husband and daughter. Thank you ladies for a fantastic informative day
