To celebrate the #nationalcurryweek and as a tribute to Indian Dhaba-walas we have added some authentic dishes. Come and try only at the Merchants of Spice. :)

Had to share this picture with you guys. Taken while our chefs were busy preparing some dishes.

We are adding a few more signature dishes to our menu. Don't forget to check them out :) This one is Beef of Bengal.

User

Lamb Shank Rogon Josh. One of our most well received signature dishes. Have you tried it yet?

Yesterday decided last minute to go for a curry, all I can say is the Gali upper st Giles could do with some help from your head chef, we had an excellent meal that was half the price of the taster menu we had at the Gali.

We will definitely be back, I had the lamb biryani and it was so much nicer having the lentils with it than the usual veg curry, my partner had the naga chicken everything we had was excellent.

The staff were very diligent.

User

Well what can i say ..... I will go as far by saying one of the best Curry house in Norwich City ..If you want a lovely night out this is the place to go ..lovely feel and atmosphere to the place too.. staff are all so polite and friendly and so efficient ....

Very busy for a Tuesday evening but we were acknowledged and shown to a seat to wait a moment while a table was prepared... we were sat at a table really quickly and had excellent service despite the restaurant being full! Lovely food! Absolutely delicious, really decent size portions and excellent quality! Our 3rd visit and we will definitely be back again! Highly recommended! 😁😁😁

There was 6 in our party and there was no waiting, we were waited on straight away. The place looks lovely. The waiters were polite and helpful. The food was really tasty and the portions I thought were quite generous. We were there for about 2.5hrs and we never thought we were being rushed. We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely go again.

The best indian restaurant i've ever been eaten at, I've been a frequent customer over the last few years and never fails to disappoint. Wipes the floor with the famous Brick Lane curry houses in London and is hands down the best curry house in Norwich.

User

One of the best Indian Restaurants around and certainly the best locally. Food is simply fantastic, portion sizes are gauged on giants and service is always fast and efficient. Only down side would be their lack of willingness to tailor dishes to individual needs (spice levels etc), which some equals, such as Pipasha in Cambridge can and do offer. Don't however let this distract from the excellence of the food and service, dishes simply come as described. Taste and portion sizes however exceed all expectations. Simply fantastic. Nothing close to this within many, many miles. Keep up the good work guys.

User

Not a large menu to select from but a great deal of exciting and different dishes to chose from. Waiting staff attentive but never in your face. Slightly contemporary and quality presentation.

Lovely food great wine and friendly staff....... what more could you want

I have been here twice now. Delicious food, really well cooked. Much better food than the usual Indians I usually go to. Normal good-sized portions. The (rather cool-looking! good looking!) smart waiters were always attentive and very polite, informative and helpful. They all seemed happy in their jobs, but quiet, professional. They didn't bat an eyelid when I asked for a doggy bag for the dish and chapatti we couldn't quite finish, which came in a smart little carrier bag. A waiter cleaned our messy little spills from the table in-between courses. A nice clean feel everywhere. Last time we came they took my partner's coat from him, and when we left they brought it for him, and held the door for us. That didn't happen tonight but I think they were very busy. Decor very nice; I don't know how to really describe the decor but definitely classy. Modern. Beautiful. Cool. Tasteful. Indian. Lots of low lights which made for lovely lighting, subdued. The (single, I think) Ladies loo was nice; all good. Looking out of the restaurant's large windows you can see the great architecture of the mediaeval buildings opposite, on this pretty quiet street. The price on the bill was good, a bit more than the cheapies around the corner in Magdalen Street, but not much more, surprisingly. Really decent prices. No free parking (and not to be expected in this part of the city, just off the shopping centre) but there is a public pay and display car park about a minute's walk away. This restaurant well deserves its excellent reputation. I would recommend to anyone and look forward to my next visit.

Great night out with the girls last night....it was my suggestion as been before on a business trip and yet again service was 1st class and food was fabulous... only annoyance was very loud, slightly drunk large work party next to us but we took it in our stride and kept talking loud when they decided to make a load of gushy speeches lol great night out ! Will be back x

User

Excellent meal and restaurant the menu has a great variation and I have never been disappointed whenever I have been. The fact that it was full downstairs on a Wednesday evening when others looked lacking in customers tells a story. Booking is an idea as you may be disappointed even on a week day. The online procedure to book is easy

User

Been here three times on a date night with my better half. Love the food. Awesome service. Always polite and earns a tip from us each time. It’s our date place

User

Amazing food in quality and quantity, one of the best Indian food I've tasted in the UK. Very nice services, made me feel comfortable as a guest. Also gave me a free heart-shaped balloon and a rose for Valentine's Day!

User

Always the best!...

User

2nd visit and we have been very impressed with the food, lovely flavours and well presented. Waiters seem to be in a rush though

User

Really sorry but service was awful. Food ok, no better than others near by and higher priced. Wrong orders brought 3 times and waiter played with my food twice. When I wrong dish was discovered the words were "is that a problem?"

Won't return in a hurry and probably never again. Shame

User

Ordered a take away last night, was very disappointed as I thought tasteless. Ordered chicken Biryani which used to come with veg curry, but now come with Tarka Dhal ( couldn’t eat as didn’t like) and the Chicken Bhuna was lacking in flavour. Won’t go back.

User

Didn’t get what I ordered and when you are having a family meal it’s nice to eat together not have to wait for a replacement, how you can mix up a chicken madras with a vegetable madras is beyond me but there we go another useless Norwich curry house ticked off the list

User

About 20 of us went for our work Christmas meal. Bearing in mind we had all sent our orders in in advance the service was shocking. We waited 45 minutes for our starters to arrive and only a handful of us had them?! When the main courses came I was given my biriyani first but had to wait until everyone else had their meals and rice served before I was served with my vegetable curry which accompanies the dish?! As for naan bread, well we were halfway through our food when they appeared. The service was s complete shambles. Food was very good but tepid by the time I got to eat. I would like to think this was just an off night, but I’m not in a hurry to go back. Maybe they just can’t cope with large parties?
