Went to merchants tonight for the first time I've not experienced fish so fresh and flavoursome since I was in Essex 8 plus years ago well worth the travel from Oldbury to eat here
We picked up our fish, chicken, roe, sausage and chips today 07/04/2017 @ 16:25hrs and I have to say the fish was first class. It's got the be the best I can remember. Well done Merchants. See you Thursday next week. Paul/Rita/Dan.
We are a family of five who live 15/20 minutes away from Stourbridge, we always use merchants, we've tried a variety of different things and never once had a bad meal from there and it's always still piping hot when we get home. The staff are friendly, fast and efficient
Was lucky enough to have fish and chips from Merchants Stourbridge on Friday night whilst visiting the area from Leeds. I have to say these were the best I have had in a very long time!! Huge portions with very tasty top quality fish!! Last time I had fish and chips this good was when I visited the Magpie in Whitby which is a true compliment !!! Will definitely be returning when next in the area. Thank you

Last night was my very first Merchants fish & chips. I have to have gluten free and I can honestly say it was absolutely delicious. I had the calamari special and battered haloumi. So yummy! The service was excellent - friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend them. As Arnie says "I'll be back!" 5’┐Į
I rarely visit anywhere other than Merchants Stourbridge for fish and chips. Great value for money, always fresh food and fast service, friendly staff. Chips are the best I've ever tasted.
Tonight I've tried their new vegetarian platter, and for ┬Ż4 I am absolutely stuffed! Battered mushrooms, onions rings and halloumi, with a fresh salad and a sauce. I love that they offer alternatives to the traditional fish and chips as well as great tasting classics!

Gluten free chips and curry sauce, the best ever. Never had chip shop food for over 2 years. We love Merchants food and only one of us is gluten free. Friendly staff too and a lovely park near by to eat your chips!
Best fish and chip shop around! Absolutely delicious, staff cannot do enough for you, lovely and friendly people. Honestly cannot recommend this chip shop enough, it will not disappoint!
Best fish & chip shop around, by far. Shop is spotless, staff are lovely and the food is consistently good. Plenty parking & food is still hot when we get it home. ( Salads pretty fab too .. but thatŌĆÖs another story ’┐Į )
Our usual chippy only does gluten free on Mondays, so we compromised yesterday & tried Merchants. To be honest the batter was very hard to bite into it made my gums sore, also the chips were very dry.
Would only buy again if my usual chippy was closed.
Merchants has always been our preferred chippy we've recommended it to others. We heard someone say they weren't impressed with the batter on the fish but couldn't believe it, as we'd never had a bad meal. Unfortunately of late, we have to say we've not been impressed at all! In fact our last portion of chips clearly should not even have been served, they were cold and rubbery. The fish was virtually non existent inside the very hard batter. So disappointed with the inconsistency ’┐Į
Fish batter was soggy on the bottom and the portion of chips is mean, squeezed into that little box. Looks pretty but you don't get much. Also no scallops available on a Friday night :(
Have used many times before as felt it was better quality than our local ... However last night had fish special the fish was so thin you could hardly see it and was mostly batter ! Which Was also hard and chewy like the fish ! was awful put us off going again
myself and family use this chippy on a regular basis, however most disappointed this evening as little food left, owner and assistant incredibly rude and defensive when challenged about this and there still being a couple of hours left to serve. Shan't be using again due to this poor arrogant attitude! Went elsewhere where they had plenty of stock, pleasant and polite staff.
Was told this chip shop weighed out your chips, so had to check for myself. went in last night and could not believe it. They were right, how ridiculous won't buy anything from this shop again.
