What a nice surprise, beautiful location and great staff. Thanks Solveiga for your help.

User

What a great stay we've had at this beautiful hotel. Great staff , great food , comfortable rooms and such a wonderful setting. We've been before and would definitely come again.

User

What a beautiful, calm environment. Gorgeous hotel, lovely evening meal in the restaurant. We booked a superior room with four poster bed and the room was enormous with wonderful views over the grounds. Everything lived up to high standards, however, breakfast was a little disappointing with a very limited choice of fresh fruit and no variety of bread/rolls. This was not enough, however, to spoil an amazing stay !

User

We had our wedding here last Saturday, I had felt disappointed with the service initially having been through 3 wedding planners since I booked the wedding in 2015 by Rachel the operations manager managed to sort things for me in the weeks leading up. The only thing I would say is the tables weren't set up in order meaning some immediate family were sat further away than I would have liked them to be. Other than that the day was beautiful, food was lovely and the rooms and views were all lovely too. The staff were rushed off their feet behind the bar but service was very quick and effective

User

Thank you to everyone at Bowden hall for the most memorable beautiful day we could of ever imagined. Alice and her team were absolutely amazing and made our day so special for us. We really hope to stay in touch with Alice I was so sad to say goodbye after all the lovely conversations and planning for the day. We really could never thank you all enough. Everyone had an amazing day. Would highly recommend Bowden hall to anyone. Lovely staff throughout. Thank you all!

User

Stayed here many times now, the place has undergone a refurbishment, the room I had this time (428) was one of those refurbished. It was warm, comfortable and relaxing. The hotel has a warm, friendly, welcoming atmosphere. All the staff are fantastic, nothing is too much trouble. I can highly recommend this hotel. See you again soon Bowden Hall.

Just wanted to say a huge thank you as I attended a Baby shower on Sunday 3rd May & I accidentally left my purse, a lady called Alice was so friendly on the phone, she managed to find it & as I don’t live locally popped it in the post for me. I just wanted to say thanks & I really appreciate it! Also the baby shower was lovely - afternoon tea was really good & the setting is beautiful, thanks!

User

Just spent the weekend at Bowden Hall. A fabulous experience from the moment we stepped through the door. The staff were professional and friendly throughout and nothing was too much trouble.

The breakfast was fabulous - so much choice. Great decor and furnishings.

Loved the little touches, such as the board games in the lounge area.

It looked glorious in the snow as we drove away today.

Highly recommended.

User

Just had the most AMAZING stay at this hotel. Reception check in was friendly and quick. Beautifully decorated hotel, my room was spacious and had everything I needed. It was spotless and I had a wonderful nights sleep. Breakfast was lovely with spectacular view of the grounds. Gavin the manager couldn't do enough for you, he carried my bags to the room and I had forgotten my iPhone charger, he soon rushed to his office to get me one to borrow.

I had drinks in the bar that evening with friends all the staff were friendly and polite. Cocktails were fantastic.

I didn't want to leave. What a gem of a hotel I have found x

User

I used the Mercure Gloucester Bowden Hall for a business event yesterday. I can't fault the staff or the hotel. Everything was set up exactly as required, with additional touches on the tables for the attendees, lovely fresh cookies, and in a stunning location. There is plenty of free parking too. Great lounge/bar areas for meeting informally too.

In future, if I need to have a meeting or conference between Gloucester, Stroud and Cheltenham, I would make this my first option.

User

Lovely hotel situated in lovely grounds can not fault staff very help full always good for a chat and a laugh took our dog first time in an hotel she was good and staff were friendly to her room was nice would have liked another comfy chair though and sorry but the Chinese are really noisy doors slamming at all hours so dog was on guard duty most of the night overall would highly recommend than you all

User

Great location and staff very friendly and professional. Food and room were great. The only downside was we were on a Travelzoo deal which included a 3 course dinner. However, we were told that our allowance was £22 per person. Well, given the prices on the menu it was only possible to have 1 chosen 3 course meal including pizza. Therefore, we ended up with a two course meal. Should have been explained before we arrived.

User

Beautiful hotel with lovely staff. Good choice for breakfast. Lovely rooms.

The only bad thing was there was no lift. We had to carry our luggage to the 4th floor

User

What superb people , who turned up to worship with the church family of Clear spring church. the venue was warm, light with comfortable chairs, albeit hastily set out with little space near the obstructing roof pillars > it is recommended for a 55%

increase in people attending next Sunday 8th October. be there your selves for a very surprise visit of a special guest visitor .!

User

The staff on our arrival were very friendly, our room was very basic and dated, not the best nights sleep we've had. The food at our evening meal was lovely and the decor in the lounge, bar and dining area was very nice. We booked with my hotelbreak for 2 night's, unfortunately our 18 year old daughter was involved in a car accident this morning which meant we had to leave a day early, the receptionist charged us for the 1 might we settled the bill and collected our things from our room as we went to leave we were stopped by another member of staff and told we had to pay for the second night because we weren't on a flexi booking.... under the circumstances I think some compassion could have been shown towards us...

User

Recently stayed here for one night.

Part of a coach trip guest.

Evening meal and breakfast was included in the price of my stay.

Plenty of choice for Breakfast well presented and tasty.

Evening meal was a set dinner with a choice of three starters, main meals and desserts to pick from. The Turkey main meal tasted like a microwave dinner - not the best.

Room was allocated on the top floor. No lift availabe.

The bedroom was comfortable warm and quiet. One double and one single bed.

The cleanliness of the bathroom was not the best - tiles around the bath looked like they have not been cleaned for months. The bath was also dirty. Flush on the toilet did not work.

Around 11.30pm there was a loud bang from the radiator in the bedroom. It was very noisy - sounded like a big air bubble and needed draining. Was turned off for the night. Luckily the bedroom was warm.

STAFF - Some staff training is needed. Not one staff member looked happy or competent in their job role.

No smiles eye contact or interaction with guests.

Waiting staff serving food were in jeans and not the most well presented. Some staff looked lost in their job roles. I asked for a cocktail to be told

"we don't do them tonight but what one did you want" to then be told "no i can't tonight".

Potentially the hotel can be a great one lovely grounds and location however staff training is definitely needed.

User

Place is good to stay. Food is very over priced and drinks.

Do not rate the food.

Then you get service charges which your not told about.

Staying in the hotel was average will not go again.

User

Nice hotel, but could be made so much better. We paid £170.00 room only for the Superior room. We only stayed for one night.

On checking in, the young lady at the desk wasn't particularly customer orientated - a smile would have been nice.

We had to take the stairs up to the fourth floor, as there's no lift in the hotel, but there was also no offer of help with our bags - pretty poor.

The room was huge!! Beautifully decorated, nice comfy bed, tea and coffee provided and a Nespresso machine was available - although there were no instructions for use, so basically messed about with it until it worked

Dressing table had no mirror - just a flat screen TV; not useful. No fridge in the room - considering the hotel is 4* I was surprised at this. No hotel information pack in the room, just room service menu. The 'little touches' were just missing.

Bar and restaurant staff were lovely, very welcoming and we're very attentive.

My meal was good - Chef's Speciality rack of Lamb, cooked to perfection, although the accompanying sauce/gravy was rather gelatinous. My husband had a steak, which he didn't rate and said he'd had better at pubs we'd been to.

The bathroom was clean, the usual toiletries were on offer... but the shower had a fixed shower head - which is one of my pet hates in many hotels.

Overall, it was OK, but wouldn't stay here again.

User

Nice building with a mediocre hotel in it. No lift, basic rooms, poor service in the restaurant, slow service, they forgot part of our meal.if a wedding is on you can’t get into the lounge they have no other room for you to go in. Room not serviced by 2.00 pm , would not use again.

Nice building with a mediocre hotel in it. No lift, basic rooms, poor service in the restaurant, slow service, they forgot part of our meal.if a wedding is on you can’t get into the lounge they have no other room for you to go in. Room not serviced by 2.00 pm , would not use again.
