Mercure Oxford Hawkwell House Hotel

About Mercure Oxford Hawkwell House Hotel

Following an extensive redesign inspired by it's location, Mercure Oxford Hawkwell House Hotel is now open. Oxford's best kept secret, set among three acres of private gardens and only 2 miles from Oxford city centre, occupies three buildings including two 19th century manor houses. The birthplace of Francis Howard Bickerton in 1889 and former home to British pilot and aerial photographer Major George W Allen, Mercure Oxford Hawkwell House is steeped in history. All 77 bedrooms emulate Oxford vintage style, with interiors inspired by the classic Oxford brogue and Oxford shirt. The restaurant and bar "Frank's at Hawkwell House" has been named in honour of the famous explorer and offers a locally inspired menu including it's signature dish, the "Baked Alaska", while the outdoor terrace overlooking the landscaped gardens provides an idyllic spot for al fresco dining and drinks. As well as providing an ideal base for staycations and city breaks to Oxford, the hotel is perfect for hosting weddings, private dinners, meetings and events.
