Merewood Country House Hotel

Just attended a wedding here, had a 5 course wedding breakfast was excellent food, stayed one night, beds were a little hard and the shower was under powered, but staff were very pleasant and helpful, we had two travel cots put in the bedroom for our twins with complimentary teddy bears which was a nice touch, best wedding ive ever been to, had breakfast the following morning which also was excellent very good quality overall for a 3 star hotel very impressed

Staff were very friendly and prices were reasonable. The choice of "real ale" wasn't too great but both ales were local. Two Hawkeshead beers, with the usual lagers/beers. Breakfast was included and had a good choice if cooked and none cooked foods. The carpark was up a small steep set of stairs but there was ample room by the main door to drop cases off first.

Beautiful country house in a fabulous setting with amazing views of the mountains and the lake. Quiet and secluded, but within easy reach of a couple of small towns and only a few minutes drive to Windermere and Ambleside. The staff are impeccable, friendly and attentive but never intrusive, and their attention to detail is perfect. The food is wonderful, rooms are well maintained and comfortable, and a good size.

This was a really great place to stay. All the staff were super friendly and helpful. They really put themselves out to accommodate our GSD . The bedroom was luxurious and spacious. The grounds are stunningly beautiful . I would definitely return and would highly recommend this fabulous hotel.

Beautiful hotel, excellent views. Attended a friend's wedding here and the food and service and surrounding were excellent. Hotel rooms very clean and lovely, beds are huge.

Nice hotel. Not taking credit cards at the bar was poor for such an isolated hotel with many non staying guests. Toilets, near the function room were bizarrely small. Everything else though was great.

We stayed here a few days ago.
My daughter bought us the stay for a Christmas pressie.
I chose the date & it was easy enough to do.
From the moment we saw the sign at the end of the driveway it has the wow factor.
We was greeted at reception & checked in . My bag was carried & we was shown to our room number ( 4) Wordsworth . The room was beautiful with the view of lake Windermere . Breathtaking.
We enjoyed a cream tea everything home made with fabulous views . We decided to book a taxi and go into the town Center it was £10 each way.
We ate out but the hotel had a full restaurant service.
We explored the town then returned for a drink in the bar. Excellent service & hospitality from all the members of staff.
We sat by the open fire in total comfort.
Back to our room , the bed was very comfortable and we had a good nights sleep. The bathroom was bright & clean with thick white towels & all the toiletries you need.
Everything we needed was there to hand.
We enjoyed our breakfast . Lots to choose from and again an excellent service , not once rushed .
Car park available in the grounds & views of the lake & grounds was amazing .
Overall a very good choice. Well positioned to explore. Immaculate for cleanliness . Service second to none.
The rooms & decor was amazing. Each room a delight to see.
