What a great end to the day in Thornhill!!! We had our second BBQ of this year!! We had kebabs, pittas, salad & Alabama steaks!!!

It’s time to get out that casserole dish!!

Ok!!.. As a butcher I always get asked, what’s the best steak??? For me it’s rump steak, as for me it holds flavour and texture!! It is also the cheapest quality cut of steak, but it still needs to come off a high Quality animal! If you want to cook your steak Argentinian style steak house, put steak on a plate add a good dusting of freshly ground pepper and a pinch of salt, then add a teaspoon our two over the steak, and then stab it all over with a fork. I like to add chilli flakes and garlic. Leave at room temperature for at least an hour (you should do this with all steaks and chops, it stops shock toughening, and shrinking!!) ... I love roasted onions, peppers, mushrooms and garlic to go with it 1 onion, 1 pepper, 6 mushrooms, 4 cloves of garlic cut into 3, splash of oil and roast at high for approximately 1 hour...

This week we have braising steak on offer at £3.90 per lb, so you can make an extra special casserole!! And it’s Chinese New Year on Tuesday so we’ve got pork in hoy sin and ginger stir fry for only £1.80 per lb, as well as Chinese ribs and half ducks aromatic style, so you can have a “fake away”!!😃😃

If you’re feeling the chill, stewing steak and brisket is on special offer this week!! You could make a warming stew for four to five people, for only £3:86!!! Just add veg!!! Or one of our handmade steak pies!!!

And order a Metcalfe’s stand pie for Christmas!!! The Scarborough has won the best chippy award!! And if you’re getting haddock & chips, don’t forget the peas & curry, Paul makes his own..... I have attended the pie festival a few times and I think these are the best ever best butchers in Yorkshire by far keep up the good work.

I buy pork pies from here every other week and they make there way down to manchester that's how loved you pork pies are:) never had a complaint about them
