Michelle Dart - Hoops & Hounds Dog Training Description

Hoops and Hounds Dog Training was set up because I really want to encourage local dog owners to do lots more fun things with their canine companions and have a place to learn, teach and enjoy spending time with their dogs.

I absolutely love teaching dog tricks! It's amazing to see dogs learning new things and enjoying every minute of the journey. I really want want to pass on my knowledge to other dog owners and inspire them to have the same level of enjoyment from their canine buddies as I do from mine. At the same time I want to encourage relationships with our dogs built on patience, understanding and compassion. All training at my classes will be force free, fun and reward based. Imagination is the only limit as to what you can teach your dog, so it's time to have fun!

During classes with Hoops and Hounds you will learn lots of amazing tricks with your dog and also work towards achieving awesome trick titles!

My Journey

I became increasingly involved in training when I enrolled my Alaskan Malamute Logan in classes as a puppy. I absolutely loved the reward based approach where Logan was able to learn in a happy and motivated way without the worry of making mistakes leading to something negative. Over the months He learned more and more and developed into a fabulous young dog. Whilst attending advanced puppy classes he was invited by Tracey Berridge to join the Dogs Helping Kids Trainee School Dog program. I was thrilled to think that Logan could eventually become an Official DHK School Dog and go on to help lots local children with their learning and personal development. (Check out DHK's website - they are truly amazing! http://www. dogshelpingkids. co. uk /)

Over the training program I was educated by Tracey in many areas of dog training and canine communication. Logan and I have learnt so much from the program and it sparked such a passion in me for positive dog training.

In 2015 I joined Tracey as an assistant trainer at her busy dog training consultancy, Puppy Gurus. I learnt so much and enjoyed every minute of training classes, from the wonderful dogs to the amazing owners - I thoroughly enjoyed being able to spark that same passion that has driven me to where I am now.

I started attending dog training course with the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers in 2015 and hope to do my assessment with them in 2016. The ethos of the IMDT aligns very closely with my own beliefs that we should train our dogs using force free, kind and scientifically proven methods. All of my training classes will show owners how to communicate effectively with their dogs whilst building a relationship built on trust, patience and understanding. All training is positive, fun and reward based using treats or play.

I have currently undertaken the following IMDT course and look forward to adding to this list over the coming months:
1 Day Happy Tricks Workshop
2 Day Career As A Dog Trainer Course
1 Day Canine Body Language Course
1 Day Canine Aggression and Rehabilitation Course
4 Day Practical Instructor Course
