We’ve been to 4 or 5 other M&C’s around the country and this one stands up well to the best of them (Hereford, in our opinion!) despite being so new. Service was brisk and everything was cooked perfectly; the staff were all polite and accommodating. Great experience all round.

Went for the first time yesterday evening and could not fault it what so ever. The staff were very friendly and welcoming the food was absolutely delicious and the service was very efficient. Will definitely be going back again soon and recommending to friends and family.

We went last night, Our waitress was fantastic. Everything came so quickly, the staff were so efficient even to the point that I went to wipe the table after our starter and a guy appeared from nowhere at that precise moment and cleaned it. The food was perfect as were the cocktails. Cannot really fault it to be honest!

We live a 5mins walk away so the opening of this restaurant was great news for two steak lovers! We’ve been twice, on both occasions served by Jose and the service we received was beyond exceptional. The steaks have been excellent and accompaniments equally good.

Both occasions there have been things unavailable on the food and drinks menu - will give benefit of the doubt as it’s new and busy in preference to disorganised.

Prices are high and some people evidently disappointed however I can’t say I’ve seen or experienced any of that. You can’t please everybody I guess but very important to keep standards extremely high if the prices are to be justified. For now, I’m very impressed and will come again. Keep it up though! �

Today we had an amazing meal at the steak house. 5 adults, a toddler and a baby are not an easy table to deal with but both the food and staff were fabulous with the steaks being outstanding.

There have been mixed reviews about this newly opened place; food comments typically good, service a bit hit and miss.

They have listened and have such a slick and welcoming team now, rivalling their far more expensive London rivals.

Celebrated our 18 year old’s birthday there last night; from the first call to Phil (Front-of-house and manager) about decorations and cake, it was everything I would expect from a bloody good steak house.

The bar is a very cool space, and the cocktails are well-priced and mixed to order unlike so many other chains; Jack (I think) knows his stuff. Being greeted by a man that I would think of as pretty much an old friend, Jose (he used to work at La Tasca, and remembered us, making a point of meeting us in the bar to ask if we remembered him) made it all the more personal, and I would definitely ask for him next time we book!

Food is great, simple (it’s great steak, for goodness sake; why complicate it), swift and piping hot, and even my younger, Pescatarian daughter had loads of choice.

I genuinely could not fault it, and we eat out a lot, yet never felt there were many places in Basingstoke we’d go back to; Phil and Jose will ensure we do.

Really good food on both occasions we visited. We were accommodated quickly and looked after well, despite not having a booking and the restaurant being very busy. Exceptional service from our waiter Jose, so much attention to detail and knowledge of the steaks, a real asset to the company. Looking forward to coming back soon.

Literally the most delicious meal I have had in ages!!! Staff were lovely, great service from our waitress who made great recommendation for my meal and nice atmosphere. Very impressed, and full up on delicious steak! ��

First visit to Basingstoke Miller & Carter Steakhouse yesterday evening...very impressed. As always in a M&C, great steak but overall we thought the restaurant presented clean and tidy, was well organised, was welcoming and had fantastic staff who were plentiful and attentive, the service was superb throughout ; will definitely visit again.



P.S. The non alcoholic Virgin Mojito was so refreshing!

Excellent meal and fabulous service. It seems as though any teething problems from the first couple of weeks have been sorted and it’s now at the level expected from a Miller & Carter. Total 5* tonight. Well done to our waitress Kellie who was fantastic and couldn’t have been more welcoming and attentive.

Everything was amazing from the moment we got there. The staff were brilliant we were well looked after, not rushed at all.

Amazing Experience, Staff were extremely helpful kind and engaging, drinks were lovely and the food was outstanding... we went for the lunch time 3 course special and I have to say it was extremely good value for money. I went for my birthday and I had such a lovely afternoon...

Went online in the morning and booked a table for that evening (Saturday 17th March). The food was amazing. Our service was great from our waitress. It did seem a bit chaotic though there was one poor girl that was helping out the main servers and she seemed to just walk around with plates of food not really knowing where she was going bless her. Apart from that It was a lovely evening.

Have just finished our meal for my brother-in-law’s birthday meal and thought the food was great. Our waiter was friendly and helpful and the food was timely and really nice!

Had a good steak meal tonight here it was the best I've had in a long time I would recommend this so long as you have a fat wallet, it was very nice though.

Eaten here on three separate occasions. The service has improved from the opening week. The steaks are still a little hit or miss , our tomahawk wasn’t properly cooked with the meat on the bone being raw (but the restaurant happily cooked it some more and we accept the cut is tricky). The sharing platter starter was very good. The cocktail bar area is too small and the table layout is poor in the principal dining area so you feel rather squashed in. Probably not quite as good as some other Miller and Carters but still a fine experience overall.

Apart from not having a lot of the drink types on the menu, hence the 4 stars, our meals x 4 were perfect. Really good cuts of meat and ambience, staff and location on a beautiful sunny day was perfect. Would definitely go back.

Decidedly average. Missing ingredients from dishes, gritty scallop starter not good, lots of cocktails not available. Avocado and mozzarella side salad was basically just a bowl of lettuce with a drizzle of dressing - only one mozzarella ball and no avocado whatsoever. Steaks were average - have eaten much tastier elsewhere. Side sauce was cold and the lettuce wedge was horrible - it tasted dirty! I won’t be rushing back in a hurry. Only saving grace was the decent service - our waiter was friendly and apologetic.

Apart from Kellie our waitress, the whole experience for us was not good at all. We tried to book for 7.30 but could only get a table for 8.00. When we arrived the place was a third full at best. The guy showing us to our table wasn’t sure where it was. A lot of drinks on the menu were not available due to the sugar tax. Kellie explain to us all about the steaks etc. And so we were looking forward to some great pieces of beef we’ll cooked but what we received were good steaks badly cooked and warm to cold. You could tell they were not hot as the butter on top was not melting. I had the rib eye on the bone which was suggested I should have medium rather than medium rare as I requested but it came up closer to rare especially near the bone. The meal was my wife’s salmon which was perfectly cooked and hot. Other comments briefly, starters were all good and hot but king prawns were just prawns, they forgot to give us our wine which we had to ask for twice, staff delivering food did not seem to know which tables the food was for, deserts were good and the decor in the place was very smart.

It is such a shame as it would be so good to have a nice restaurant on your doorstep but there is a lot that needs to be done to bring it up to scratch for the prices being charged. We so sorry for Kellie as she was very good at her job but spent a lot of time apologising for the shortcomings.

We won’t be going back.
