We turned up yesterday at 19.30pm having not booked, they told us we could have a table, but it was rebooked for 21.00pm not a problem for us we had somewhere to go.



Drinks where served very quickly by our lovely waitress Viola, after a shortish wait are food was delivered, presented really well, cooked beautifully, our first time here and very enjoyable, we shall go again, very busy but made to feel welcome.

We came for the tasting evening on the Thursday. Absolutely amazing. Delicious food. Excellent service. My 6 year old son and 7 month old daughter both tried some of our fillet steak and he now keeps asking for son of the soft steak. We'll be back but to our local restaurant.

Our party of four persons visited last Friday evening and we were all 'knocked out' by the whole experience. Being 'locals' we watched the building work progress over the past few weeks and couldn't wait to give it a try. The level of service we received was top class. Staff have been well trained and display an honest sincerity in their work. The Butchers Block was a new experience albeit we struggled to find space for a pudding. However we did and the Posset Tart was spot on, which was served with a delightful Coffee. Will we be returning?, most certainly, table already booked for Thursday night. Cannot wait.

My son & I took my parents out for my dads birthday dinner.

Food was amazing, steak very tender good generous cut, cooked as requested & quick to come out,couldn't fault food at all.

Our server Michelle was very welcoming & even sang happy birthday to my dad plus to another dinner behind our table who was also celebrating his birthday!

Would most definitely return & recommend this eatery.

My husband and are just home after eating here. The food was lovely but our evening was made exceptionally lovely by our lovely waiter Harry. This young man was polite and extremely professional but just an all round nice guy. Weā€™d really appreciate you passing on our words as he truly deserves the recognition. My husband and I visited Miller and Carter the day after it officially opened. Fantastic food cooked to mouthwatering perfection. Our server Katy was so accommodating, knowledgeable, patient and able to recommend dishes when we werenā€™t sure of what we wanted. Canā€™t wait to visit again - from starter to dessert, we really canā€™t fault them on quality or service. We would highly recommend a visit!

I have been to many steak houses and I can say without a shadow of a doubt that Charlotte is the best example of how customer service should be done, the food is always the center piece when visiting Miller & Carter but I honestly cannot say I've had a better dining experience than today.



We have been around 4 times and Charlotte remembered our first visit and me talking about my trip to Thailand, these are the things that make a dinner service more than just sitting down to eat, experiences like these will get you customers for life, and me and my partner now are.

Most of all the service was brilliant, Amber was a great host, very friendly, attentive and ambitious young lady, also very knowledgable about food that was served. Bartender was also very knowledgable and friendly. Overall a great experience, we will sure be eating there a lot! ļæ½

Friday night treat! My girlfriend booked a table for the two of us Friday just gone after hearing excellent things about the food here. We arrived for around 7:30 and had a quick drink in the bar, beer is good and the cocktails better according to my other half. We were shortly seated at 7:45 just off from the main bar area, it was a really nice area of around 6 or 7 tables with a really intimate feel. Great for a date night or special occasion. We were then greeted by Karla. She made sure we were happy and had enough drinks and left us to decide what we wanted to eat. On her return, she recommended a bottle of the house red, I was a little reluctant to choose this but trusted her judgement and in fact enjoyed a lovely crisp bottle of red. (Would also recommend to anyone). After a few more minutes looking into the menu it was apparent that there was a lot of choice, not to worry, Karla was back again with more recommendations. We started with the tasting board to share, meatballs are amazing!! Once we had finished our amazing starter we asked Karla if we could have 10-15 minutes before the mains came out, to which she replied that she would ask the chefs. A moment later Karla returned and apologised profusely that the chefs had just plated our steaks but we could wait however this would mean that sat under the hot lamp the steaks would continue to cook. (I like that we were able to make an informed decision here). We obviously chose to have the food come out as it was ready and didnā€™t want it to spoil. Our Fillet steak with half a lobster and ribeye steak with mac&cheese came out in seconds (at this point we knew we had over ordered but it was well worth it). My fillet was cooked to perfection as was the lobster. My girlfriends ribeye was tender and juicy and the mac&cheese was to die for!! Karla returned after a couple of mouthfuls to make sure everything was ok. (We struggled to respond with the amount of food we were trying to get through). All in all we had an excellent meal, the rest of the evening went without a hitch and were left to enjoy our evening and not feel rushed (which is rare to find this day in busy restaurants on a Friday night). We paid the bill which was by no means cheap but well worth it! We will definitely be returning in the near future.



P.S. Karla is a real asset to the team here at Miller & Carter, I am able to say that this is the best service I have ever received when dining out.

A genuinely wonderful experience. Having eaten at M&C Wheathampstead (and always been happy) many times, we expected the food to be good - and we weren't disappointed, as it was spot on as always. But the service was a cut above tonight, and our waiter Jack was friendly, informed, enthusiastic, funny. The Management team also seemed particularly motivated and present. It looks like we have a new M&C to return to. See you soon.

Food was fab we ordered the 3 courses every one beautiful. Would have been 5 star but waited nearly 20 minutes to order and then another 30 minutes before we actualy got our drinks. The first course came out and I had to ask the waitress where our drinks were. Then 3 times we had to correct our final bill.

After two weeks of celebrating a big birthday ļæ½ lunch at the shard on the actual day ended up in the evening at our local Miller & Carter as heard nothing but good reviews as we were still hungry ļæ½ booked online in the afternoon no problem - carpark was a nightmare but that shows a busy restaurant!! Seated quickly and waitress was very informative ordered a cocktail ļæ½ porn star martini happy to oblige but had run out of prosecco (shock why do restaurants have this problem ? Especially this one when Sainsburyā€™s is across the road ?? Well I refused to pay the Ā£7 plus for pornstar martinis without the prosecco waitress said some people drink it separate I explained thatā€™s not the way to drink it u have to pour it in it for the effect !!! She went off too talk to management and came back with the answer we will take Ā£2 of the price but only once meaning only one cocktail ļæ½ at the reduced rate - shocking !!!! Their loss only had one drink !!! The food came very nice and filling enjoyed my birthday evening meal . Very nice for a local restaurant hope it stays this way only reason not 5 stars because of the issue wiv the prosecco !!! Sort this out Miller & Carter !! and I will return

Our family decided to have a mother's day lunch today, our party was made up of 3 adults and 2 children. Half way through our starters the waiter brought out the sides to our main meal so I had to tell him to take them back. The main meals arrived which was fine but we had changed the ordinary fries to sweet potatoe but received both. One of the children's meals, chicken lollipops, didn't arrive. When it did arrive very late into our meal, it was overcooked and with yet more fries . Unfortunately the chicken lollipops were inedible so were returned to the kitchen for a replacement. We had a child who'd waited and waited for her meal while we'd all were eating. Had I know this was going to happen I would have sent the whole lot back before we'd started eating so we could eat as a family as by the time her meal arrived, we had almost finished our meals. The children shared a burger in the end. We complained and the price of chicken lollipops meal was taken off the bill but that was what I expected! The staff are young and not sure what's going on because two separate waiters informed us the replacement chicken lollipops were nearly ready after we'd cancelled them. The waitress who served us was friendly and apologised for the problem. We wanted it to be perfect because of the occassion so felt a bit let down hence the 3 stars.

First impressions were good decor cleanliness, greeting only to be left 20mins before even being asked for a drink , finally my husband went to the bar & got us one!! Obs apology came next with. Glass of prosecco, very nice , but then it came to ordering and out of the four of us dining only 1 of our 1st choice was available , no fillet , no t-bone & no 12oz sirloin... we were beginning to think weā€™d defo picked the wrong STEAKHOUSE restaurant!! Our second choice of the menu was very nice and thatā€™s why we will return and give them a second try .

We visited Miller and Carter on bank holiday Monday ,I booked on line requesting two rib eye steaks for myself and husband ,the steaks were very chewy and for the price of Ā£21.50 each it wasn't worth that ammont of money ,it's very nice in the area to have a drink and the area where you eat , but we feel it was far to expensive as we did not enjoy it at all

On arriving 2hrs before a show at Milton Keynes - we felt that would be enough time, little did we know that the steak house could not could a steak! We sent a fillet steak back which had been charcoaled (the next one to arrive was perfect) making me question how the chef was happy to send the first dish out!

We made the staff aware (no fault with the service element) but this poor waiter got given another waiters mess to sort out, the order was completely wrong, non of our steaks came out as we asked for and like I said one was so bad the decision was made to send it back!



A real shame when you pay good money for a decent steak! And felt slightly cheated out of Ā£100 + for a meal that wasnā€™t great, and had to have the desert still frozen in a box due to them not being able to serve a 3 course meal in under 2 hours - Unfortunately will not be returning to this one!

Very disappointed with the food and service! We booked a table for 9pm Saturday night. arrived slightly early so ordered a drink in the bar. When we were seated in the main restaurant we felt like we were put in a corner and forgotten about. We ordered food at around 9.10pm just mains and we didnā€™t actually eat until after 10pm, this wouldnā€™t have been a big issue if we had been informed when ordering that there would be a fairly long wait. The waitress made a point of telling us how tired she was as it was coming to the end of the night! We werenā€™t visited by any server to ask if we wanted any drinks etc in between ordering food and being served (nearly an hour) and as we were in a corner it was hard to get anyoneā€™s attention. I ordered the Bistro rump steak and I actually couldnā€™t eat it as it was full of stringy bits and extremely chewy, we also had the tempura lobster and prawns as a side and they were basically just batter no fish and very greasy. I have never complained about food at a restaurant before now and when I did I was just told ā€œit must have been a one off bad piece of steakā€ and just brushed off even though she could see my plate was still full of steak and she could clearly see the white stringy bits in every bit. I wasnā€™t offered any alternative at all or even an apology. Considering the reputation Miller and Carter we had quite high expectations and the standard was well below average. We will not be returning or recommending to anyone.

My wife and I decided to try this after it changed over from being a Toby restaurant. We had tried previously but was told we had to book which was fair enough. Today 2nd April on the way home we booked for 19.30. We arrived at 19.25 and were seated at 19.40 right next to the kitchen where my wife had a full view of a dirty trolley with dirty cutlery and clothes. We ordered drinks and food (just mains) and the drinks arrived quite quickly. My drink had a broken straw which shot alcohol over one of my best shirts and we received a half hearted apology. Anyway because of where we were seated the staff kept catching the back of my wife's chair at one stage knocking her bag to the floor (no apology). At 20.35 we had still not received our meals even though the table next to us had ordered after us had their starter and finished it. I complained to a lady who seemed to be in charge and although she apologised profusely and said we could have the drinks on the house, she admitted that a lot of customers had complained this evening. She did offer to see where we were in the queue !!! which to be honest annoyed me more. We left with a very bad experience of this Miller and Carter which is a shame as we expected as it had been recently refitted it would be as good if not better than other Miller and Carters we had been too. I do not envisage another visit unless things change dramatically.

On arriving 2hrs before a show at Milton Keynes - we felt that would be enough time, little did we know that the steak house could not could a steak! We sent a fillet steak back which had been charcoaled (the next one to arrive was perfect) making me question how the chef was happy to send the first dish out!

We made the staff aware (no fault with the service element) but this poor waiter got given another waiters mess to sort out, the order was completely wrong, non of our steaks came out as we asked for and like I said one was so bad the decision was made to send it back!



A real shame when you pay good money for a decent steak! And felt slightly cheated out of Ā£100 + for a meal that wasnā€™t great, and had to have the desert still frozen in a box due to them not being able to serve a 3 course meal in under 2 hours - Unfortunately will not be returning to this one!

Very disappointed with the food and service! We booked a table for 9pm Saturday night. arrived slightly early so ordered a drink in the bar. When we were seated in the main restaurant we felt like we were put in a corner and forgotten about. We ordered food at around 9.10pm just mains and we didnā€™t actually eat until after 10pm, this wouldnā€™t have been a big issue if we had been informed when ordering that there would be a fairly long wait. The waitress made a point of telling us how tired she was as it was coming to the end of the night! We werenā€™t visited by any server to ask if we wanted any drinks etc in between ordering food and being served (nearly an hour) and as we were in a corner it was hard to get anyoneā€™s attention. I ordered the Bistro rump steak and I actually couldnā€™t eat it as it was full of stringy bits and extremely chewy, we also had the tempura lobster and prawns as a side and they were basically just batter no fish and very greasy. I have never complained about food at a restaurant before now and when I did I was just told ā€œit must have been a one off bad piece of steakā€ and just brushed off even though she could see my plate was still full of steak and she could clearly see the white stringy bits in every bit. I wasnā€™t offered any alternative at all or even an apology. Considering the reputation Miller and Carter we had quite high expectations and the standard was well below average. We will not be returning or recommending to anyone.

My wife and I decided to try this after it changed over from being a Toby restaurant. We had tried previously but was told we had to book which was fair enough. Today 2nd April on the way home we booked for 19.30. We arrived at 19.25 and were seated at 19.40 right next to the kitchen where my wife had a full view of a dirty trolley with dirty cutlery and clothes. We ordered drinks and food (just mains) and the drinks arrived quite quickly. My drink had a broken straw which shot alcohol over one of my best shirts and we received a half hearted apology. Anyway because of where we were seated the staff kept catching the back of my wife's chair at one stage knocking her bag to the floor (no apology). At 20.35 we had still not received our meals even though the table next to us had ordered after us had their starter and finished it. I complained to a lady who seemed to be in charge and although she apologised profusely and said we could have the drinks on the house, she admitted that a lot of customers had complained this evening. She did offer to see where we were in the queue !!! which to be honest annoyed me more. We left with a very bad experience of this Miller and Carter which is a shame as we expected as it had been recently refitted it would be as good if not better than other Miller and Carters we had been too. I do not envisage another visit unless things change dramatically.
