Some good, some not so good. Good: staff were very friendly and the food was excellent.
Not so good: rooms very dated, hot water in the ensuite was temperamental, the lounge was cold (staff would not light the fire despite our asking; many guests sitting around in their jumpers, clearly suffering as we were), WiFi is next to useless. Most worrying of all was the very strong smell of fumes from the boiler that permeated the 1st floor. This gave us headaches. On complaining, the staff explained that there was a problem but the excuse was that they are closing at the end of the month so would not be doing anything about it now. I find this unbelievable; reminds me of the attitude towards Grenfell Towers: profit before safety.
On arriving home and having had a good night's sleep, my head feels much clearer.

Wonderful stay, location and room. The staff were lovely, and I'd definitely recommend the hotel.

Tea lovely, service lovely, house martins and swallows lively, view lovely. Decor quirky, but fun.

Room 3 -
lovely stay - quirky hotel staff very nice and helpful especially Danny who seemed to be everywhere. Only constructive comment we would make it would have been nice to have an information book in room Will certainly return!

Came here first in 2011 and fell in love with the eclectic charm of the place! Like most of you, I've spent time in hotels all over the world but never in one like this!
The eclectic collection of Martin Millers old antiques, books, bric a brac and paraphernalia make you feel you are inside a game of cluedo!
If you like spic and span, elegant lines, and contemporary living then this is not for you!
However, if like me you like something a bit 'avant garde' or off the wall you'll absolutely love this place.
The menu isn't the most extensive but the food is superb, served by the most friendly staff you'll find anywhere. Go on, try it, you'll never forget it!

Disappointing coffee experience..waited in the reception area to order for 10 minutes today along with another customer as reception was not manned. No apology for the delay. Other customer wasn't sure of his table number although he could point to it and was told to get the number fairly abruptly ..although waitress relented when challenged and asked if she was serious ( there were no other customers in the same seating area ). Tea and coffee given to us sullenly without comment. .thrown down on table. Loos seats damaged and nowhere to hang coat up while doing the business. Will use alternative business at the Weir next time

Without doubt the rudest service in my 49 years. Arrogant, stroppy foreign girl- full of bolshy attitude- poor command of English, the hotel itself looked delightful, plushly decorated but terrible service and evidently empty for this reason.
