We've only just gone and won Small Family Business of the Year Award 2018 at the Mayfair in London! It's moments like this that we stand back and reflect on how far we've come as a family and a little local business from Haxby that Grandad started. For anyone who knows us and our story, it's been an emotional, fulfilling, ambitious roller coaster of a journey - but one that’s still far from over! We literally could not do what we do everyday without our team and community behind us supporting our every move. Thank you guys, you're the best! x

This is the start of something very exciting for us... we set off to Birmingham at 6am this morning to help a shop in need. Chelmund's Fish & Chips is run and owned entirely by the local community, with all profits going straight back into the community fund to pay for events like groups for older people, family trips and youth activities, all whilst creating jobs for the local residents too! It's a fantastic concept and despite having some set backs earlier this year, they're now thankfully back on track. The team did an amazing job today and should be very proud of themselves! We're looking forward to working very closely with Chelmunds and helping them grow from strength to strength alongside the NFFF. Watch this space! #GiveBack

You guys produce the most awesome fish and chips EVER!! Everything had flavour, the cod was moist and so flavourful, the batter was thin, crispy and again held its flavour against the cod, the chips were soft and fluffy inside and crisp on the outside, you clearly keep your fat clean. The curry sauce was spicy, yet not hot and with a delicious extra element that I just can't put my finger on. The mushy peas and gravy were outstanding. Many, many thanks for the complimentary mixed seafood basket which was without doubt the best we have ever tasted and don't even get me started on your homemade tartare sauce!! How do you do that? I cannot praise you guys highly enough, you deserve your 2018 win. To top it off, you and all your staff are just so damn nice, smiley and polite. You took time to speak with us despite being unsurprisingly busy. Congratulations on your success and may it continue well into future generations. This business is clearly in your blood. We travelled from Somerset to see you and we can't wait to come again. Thank you so much, we won't hesitate to recommend you too everyone we speak to! Keep up the amazing work!!! Went to Millers a week or so ago with my grandparents- we had high hopes at the beginning but it exceeded our expectations. Lovely fish, unlimited chips and bread! Good value for money with good quality food. Definitely will be coming again

We visited tonight for a naughty chip dinner and had a lovely conversation with one of the owners Nick. How wonderful to hear a young entrepreneur speak with great passion about supporting local, small business, dedicated to using quality ingredients and offering tasty vegetarian and gluten free options too. Would highly recommend. Not your standard fish and chips... sooooooo much better!

We tried Millers for the first time today. We ordered gluten free fish and chips to take home. Even after a 15 minute drive home we tucked into the crispiest, fresh fish and chips we’ve had in yonks! Believe the hype, we’ll be back again and again 👌👍

We travelled from Leicester to visit the UK’s best fish and chip shop and were not disappointed. We left early arriving at midday and were seated within a few minutes. Lesley, the co-owner, was incredibly friendly and overjoyed that we had made the drive to Haxby, York. We ordered the Seafood Basket for starters and although they don’t normally serve a halal version, Nick was more than happy to accommodate our request and fried our seafood in a separate fryer. It was delicious and whilst I’m not a food blogger, I can honestly say that it was the best seafood basket I’ve had! Calamari, prawns, squid and cod bites cooked to perfection; crispy and tasty with just the right seasoning! We then ordered a selection of cod fish & chips and scampi & chips - they arrived piping hot, crispy and not at all greasy. The side dishes of mushy peas and bread and butter were perfect accompaniments and I admittedly enjoyed my handmade chip butties! A huge thank you to David, Nick and Lesley for going the extra mile and allowing us to enjoy the seafood for a halal diet. We had such a fantastic time so expect a visit from us in the near future!

We moved from Haxby but still always drive back for fish and chip tea as Millers is our favourite in York by a mile although I really miss the gorgeous chicken that I use to have all the time and the old style gravy. Other than that I love all the changes that have been made.

Stopped in as we're on holiday in the York area and I had to visit the famous Miller's of Haxby! Very busy, with people queuing out the door but great service, in and out in less than 10 mins. Superb fish in a light batter and proper chips. I had the light bite which was more than enough and great value. Staff were all friendly and cheerful, fantastic place, can't wait to come back!!!

So fantastic to come and visit after recommendations from our friends.

I love supporting small businesses and this is one that deserves 6 stars.

Second time that we’ve been there in the space of only 2 weeks and it’s been worth the 1hr drive each time. The food is 100% perfection and the service really does go above and beyond, with nothing being too much trouble. It’s very hard to find either of these attributes; but to find them both together, along with a very reasonable price tag is quite simply a miracle!! Our thanks to Millers for providing them all - we will return and recommend as quickly as our last visit!

No skin on fish and the batter was the best that I have ever tasted. The staff were exceptionally friendly and nothing too much trouble.

I would like to thank the millers family for helping me wish my granny a happy 84th birthday. was so welcoming and accommodating our food was ready In no time at all fresh and hot. and they wrote a happy birthday message on my grannys fish and chips box. that made her smile. just the little things that make a great chip shop. nick Miller himself even made the time to have a picture with my son wishing my granny a happy birthday. the fish and chips r that amazing my granny wants a monthly delivery. a must try restaurant customer service is outstanding from workers and especially the millers family.

I don’t know where to start really, got a takeaway on Friday evening, busy as hell and the guys looked unbelievable working at the pace they do! Very impressive to watch, from the control of the operation to the delivery of the food. Super crispy batter, beautifully cooked cod and yes I had a large battered sausage too which was also stunning. I love the idea of how they do the chips, you can tell there is a lot of love that goes into what they do and that’s why they are number one! Well done #teammillers

Fantastic sit-down meal in the shop. An incredibly fresh meal with a delicious seafood basket to top it off! Service was phenomonal and I can't wait to return for my next meal.

An excellent Family run Chippy where everyone cares about what they do I discovered it about a year ago and we live on the other side of York in Holgate. But the quality of the Fish and Chips is truly outstanding. I always have Plaice, which isn't available in a lot of Chippys. It is a thin fish so can easily be overcooked, but it hasn't been so far. Always succulent and full of Fresh Flavour.

You guys produce the most awesome fish and chips EVER!!
