Millfield Community Nursery School Description
We are a local authority nursery school staffed with qualified teachers and nursery nurses with many years of experience. We see our school as part of the continuum of each child’s development and acknowledge and build on previous experiences through recognising the value and importance of parents, working with you to ensure each child develops to their full potential.
We provide a safe, stimulating environment which promotes learning through play; respecting each child’s individuality as they learn, grow and develop at their own rate.
Children have access to a range of first-hand experiences which fosters their all-round development. They are encouraged to pursue and extend their interests and work out their own ideas to encourage their confidence and independence.
We are part of Sunderland's 'Partners in Pedagogy' within Nursery settings.

Friday 14th December Christmas Craft Day 10am—11am and ... 1.30pm-2.30pm Come in and create with your child and meet the governors. Mince pies and refreshments will be on sale.
Tuesday 18th December Christmas Carol Service AT NURSERY 2-3PM
Wednesday 19th December PARTY DAY! AM—Daycare Nursery Party for all children 9am—11.30am No afternoon session. PM—Nursery Class Party for all children 1pm—3pm No morning session.
Thursday 20th December Christmas Jumper Day. Last Day of Nursery
No Nursery or Daycare session on Friday 21st December

The nursery opens for the Autumn Term on Wednesday 5th September. Please check your Welcome Back Celebration invitation for your individual starting date. If you need a reminder of your dates please give us a ring on Monday.
Welcome Back Celebration. Nursery and Daycare are open on Tuesday 4th September for the Welcome Back Celebration. Nursery families from 9am till 11.30am. Daycare families from 1pm till 3pm. Fun activities, ice cream, meet the wonderful staff and enjoy a get together with friends old and new. Looking forward to seeing you all and your wonderful, amazing children.
Nursery closes on Friday for May Half Term, there are still a few places left for Holiday Club, please contact the Nursery to book your place.
A massive Thank you to all who brought in 'Royal Tea' treats. Everyone had a wonderful day celebrating the Royal wedding. 😍

During the month of January we have been 'hands on' exploring sensory activities.
February Half Term is upon us and we are open for Holiday club for children aged 0-8 years old. Please ring the Nursery for more information or to book your child in. Places are limited.
Yesterday was a sad day for us all at the Nursery. Our beloved Guinea Pig Fudge crossed the Rainbow Bridge to heaven. Fudge died at Nursery surrounded by the children and staff. The children said good bye by singing Twinkle Twinkle and have decided that they would like to remember Fudge by making him a bye bye box. The children have drawn pictures of Fudge and made some playdough hearts. These will be put into his box as memories. We will miss Fudge x
