Millstone Country Inn

About Millstone Country Inn

The Millstone Inn at Hathersage, Derbyshire offers excellent food and drink and comfortable bed and breakfast accommodation in the Peak District.

Millstone Country Inn Description

The Inn is located on the edge of the village of Hathersage looking up the Hope Valley, the gateway to the beautiful Peak District National Park.

This old coaching inn has been welcoming visitors for centuries, and makes an ideal base for exploring the many different attractions the Peak District has to offer.

With Chatsworth House, Ladybower Dam (of Dambusters fame) and the Blue John caverns only a few minutes away, it's hard to believe a 15 minute drive over the moor and you are in the centre of Sheffield.

We have nine rooms available - from double rooms, twin rooms, single-bedded rooms and family rooms. For the standard of comfort and service, the Millstone Inn accommodation has been graded a 4-star Inn by the AA.

Our bar has SIX hand-pulled real ales, and a great menu of bar meals is available every day. We are Cask Marque accredited for the quality of our real ale.

Free internet access is available throughout the Inn.

Went for one night food excellent, my mrs drink that she wanted they didn't have , but was ok to fetch the one out our room to bring down to the bar , very friendly great polite staff , definitely recommend

User

We've returned here under the new ownership, the pub/restaurant has really improved in all respects (decor, lighting, atmosphere) as well as boasting a delicious carvery. The rooms have been freshened up and look much more contemporary. The staff are very warm and welcoming. We look forward to eating here again and sitting outside when the sun is shining!

User

We popped in here today after a muddy walk with the two children and two dogs. Staff were all really friendly and helpful. It was brilliant that we could take both dogs into the pub whilst we ate. I had the fish and chips, best I've had in a long time, portion size was perfect. The children were both happy with their pizza's, hubby's lasagne was nice, sweet potato fries a little over cooked, but overall we were all happy. We will definitely be visiting again when we are back in the area.

User

We called in today, last minute decision and what a good one it was too, what a lovely way to spend our anniversary, cruising around our beautiful county with a lovely meal half way through. Thank you, we will be back xx

User

Popped in again yesterday for some food on the way back from a run out. We both had the gammon with chips and peas, Lovely food as usual. Fourth time this year we have been in, will be back again soon, possibly for one of your theme nights before Christmas.

User

Lovely meal although portions were large. The lasagne and the fish and chips were cooked beautifully and homemade chips which is a definite plus. Extremely pleasant person on reception/bar who answered all our questions with a smile. Will definitely be going back.

User

I've been twice now as we just had to return Sunday gone having found this place a couple of weeks before!! Muddy boots and paws welcome!! We shall be back for a carvery seeing as the bangers mash and giant Yorkie was so amazing!! Lovely welcoming staff and my pooch loves it too xx

User

I came here during a hike round the peaks yesterday with my boyfriend and Id been here before just for a drink, but yesterday was first time I had tried their food and it was absolutely lovely, the garlic mushrooms with the homemade garlic mayo as a starter was to die for and the chef's special meat and tattie pie was absolutely gorgeous, my boyfriend had the 10oz gammon which was really nice, overall we was both very impressed it is also a nice warm welcoming countryside pub, the dogs was welcome (they even had fish fingers he he) and staff are really lovely, overall a really lovely pub, we shall be coming back to visit....keep it up!!

User

Gorgeous homemade food. Generous portions and very friendly staff. Cannot fault it. Will def be visiting again. Thank you!!

User

Fantastic, very friendly, had plenty of time for us.

Accepts dogs inside and no dress code.

As a family of two adults and three children we had been for a 7 mile trek with three dogs and even though covered in all sorts of the countryside we we made to feel welcome and acommated for.

The food was scrummy and freshly cooked.

We will defiantly be going back again

User

Best part of our weekend was finding this pub, stayed in our Motorhome on the car park. The food was spot on and the staff couldn’t have been friendlier, and when we arrived back after the course we had been on they were concerned that we didn’t look right, when we told them why they couldn’t believe it and made sure we were feeling better when we went back for dinner on the night.

User

Welcomed by a friendly face and enjoyed a drink in the sun

User

The food was fab, sat out side very busy but didn't have to wait that long for food, would definitely go back and definitely recommend it.

User

Lovely staff great food great location but you need to fix that plumbing guys. It’s been hammering for 2 days now!

User

We'd stopped here before a few years ago, apparently it's changed hands since then. Whilst I can accept the grubby appearance of the floors and carpets, if they accept muddy boots and dogs on a stopover you can't be picky, not many places will accept dogs.

We were a bit disappointed however with the food, our last stop left us well impressed with the freshshly home cooked food, but this visit left us 'wanting' with bought in cheap pies with mash & mushy peas as the 'headline dishes' - I settled for battered fish & chips after thinking that was the only safe bet on the menu - they really need a proper chef who can offer homemade dishes, nothing special, but real homemade offerings.

My full English breakfast was so greasy that I put my napkin on the plate and transferred the food on to it to soak up the fat - my wife's was only tepid.

The room was adequate but was very noisy fronting onto the main road and there was no cord on the shower isolator and the bedroom door had a mortise deadlock which always causes me some concern in the event of fire getting out of a smoke filled room.

With this establishment going into receivership twice before I feel without radical changes its destined for the same fate.

User

Called in yesterday for Sunday lunch my daughter & myself had the carvery (very nice, all home made) however my hubby ordered the Scampi & was told he would have to wait an hour ..an hour & a half later still waiting, there were customers coming in after us & getting their meals before him, hence we complained, got his money back & left!!

User

Staff very friendly and welcoming rooms dated and need of upgrade food well what can I say arrived Thursday 2pm ordered a drink and a piza to share as a snack cheese and salami when it came it was full of onion and garlic which I do not like or ask for this was left .. Ordered tea I ordered fish chips peas my partner ordered mushroom stroganoff with rich mine was ok but the other was sent back not edible stay well clear of the food awful

User

Called in as we were driving by.. was good that you could take the dogs in but that was probably the best thing about it... cost £11 for 2 pints and 2 bags of crisps! And the lager tasted foul!
