About Milroy'S Of Soho

Independent Soho whisky & spirits specialist. Established in 1964, kicking whisky into the 21st Century. Shop – Bar – Events - Online

Milroy'S Of Soho Description

Milroy's of Soho was founded by brothers, John & Wallace Milroy, in 1964 - fifty years later we continue to sell premium whiskies from Scotland and around the world. In December 2014 we became independent once again and began the process of giving the shop a much needed refurbishment. 2015 has seen us return with a refurbished shop, new stock, a whisky bar and a secret cocktail bar!

User

Wonderful Staff, knowledgable in all the products and warm friendly environment. A must if you love your whiskies and cocktail downstairs in the Vault through the bookshelf (yes through a bookshelf)

User

We went for a private tasting and had a fantastic time, lovely, knowledgeable and interesting staff, great atmosphere and huge range of delicious whiskeys.

User

We had great time there and really appreciate Frankie for giving us excellent recommendations😄

User

WHAT A PLACE! Great whisky, great atmosphere and great staff that really know there shit!

User

The finest whiskey bar I've ever had the pleasure of visiting. Great, curated selection, lovely space (if a bit cramped at times), and a passionate and knowledgeable staff.

User

The bartender was amazing! First time really tasting proper whiskey and I think i found the one! They have whiskey you wouldn't find anywhere

User

Thank you Jolyon for the enlightenment of the best whiskey in London

User

Super cool shop, bar and (most important) the staff, ask Eddie for any recommendation. you won't be disappointed.

User

Shop, staff, bar and atmosphere are all safe as houses. Be there or be square.

User

Sensational place. Great staff excellent range of scotches to try and drink. Thank you all

User

Perfect hidden gem. Recommend by a friend and I'm happy they did

User

One of the best whisky bars/shops in London👍🥃 Great chat and an unforgettable dram is guaranteed🙏

User

Not only the best whisky shop in London but also a superb secret cocktail bar downstairs. Great refurb!

User

My father and I had a introduction to whiskey yesterday we found it extremely informative and a pleasant way to spend a Saturday afternoon. The staff were warm and friendly from start to finish. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Double thumbs up.....

User

Milroy's, for me, a couple of years ago, was a random pit stop on the way home from central London. I'd pop in, maybe do a tasting, and walk out with a new bottle of Milroy's branded single cask. Tonight was different. The joint now has a whiskey bar! The service was excellent, the recommended dram was a little sharp, but perfect while my wife and kids were at a performance of Matilda. I walked with a bottle of Laphroaig Quarter Cask.

User

If you're looking for an excellent night, filled with a guided, tailored tour of whisky, in a great atmosphere. Go to Jolyon. An absolutely outstanding experience. For somethings a little more special, press against the book case. These guys know their stuff!

User

If you want to enjoy whisky in soho, milroy's is perfect place

User

I travelled 250 miles to visit my daughter who lives in London, and to visit this little gem in particular, and to go to the downstairs bar, it was closed to the public as a private party had hired that room for the night, even so a member of staff let me see the room briefly looks great.

Can't wait to go again and hopefully use it then.

Anyway I had a couple of drinks or more in the normal bar and loved every minute, the staff know there stuff and made it a thoroughly enjoyable evening.

User

I only go up to London a couple of times a year but when I do I make sure I go in just before lunch. I have always found the staff to be friendly and knowledgeable about their whiskeys and are always willing to recommend a new taste. I now have the enjoyable experience of taking others to experience this unique 'Shop'.

User

I loved it. The staff are super knowledgable and happy to chat and the tastings are VERY worthwhile :)

User

Great staff, great whisky and lovely meat and cheese platter. Will definitely be visiting again next time I'm in Soho! :)

User

Great staff with lots of knowledge. Also good advice on pairings for your drink. Definitely coming back with more money

PS. Good music to listen to while sampling

User

Great place, lovely, knowledgable people and amazing whisky

User

Great place with very friendly and helpful staff. I wish I lived closer as I'd be there way more often. However, for the sake of my bank balance, it's probably a good job I don't, as I could spend hours here. Popped in on Thursday (1/1/18) for a bottle of whisky. I didn't know exactly which bottle I wanted, but the bar staff were very helpful, knowledgeable and on hand to make suggestions. Always a good experience.

User

Great place with staff! We visited Milroys for a tasting with Eddie as our host. the tasting included some really interesting and tasty whiskys from brands we have never heard of. It was really an eye opening whisky tasting we will never forget. Cheers Eddie!

User

Great group of knowledgeable whisky drinkers! Always have a great time when is stop in for a dram or 15!

User

Great choice of whiskies, connoisseurs staff and charming little bar in the end of Greek Street. Very good place!

User

Great bar, amazing staff offering a whisk(e)y for all tastes and budgets.

User

Fantastic shop and bar, in the heart of soho - an absolute must!

User

Excellent tasting yesterday afternoon ! Thanks for sharing your passion about this great drink

User

Excellent hosting by Tim who, despite some world class attempts at interruption and deflection did educate us about Whisky enough to distinguish our Speysides from our Islays and Islands. He took us on an excellent, entertaining and amusing journey with 2 inspired deviations to KA Va Lan from Korea and a whisky from India bizarrely called "whisky".

The only disappointments:

The bloody Christmas shopper tourists bereft of good ideas for decent presents had cleaned the shop out of Lagavulin!

we had the last dram of Brucchladdich cask strength, could have drunk the bottle if 1 had been avaialable

And The Ernst & Scherdinger bottled 20 year in cask 22 year old Bruchladdich, couldn't be sold by the bottle with its bottlers label. Frankly get off your arses and use a John Bull printing set if you have to to make some MiIlroy's labels for it so we can buy some. Haven't you heard of laptops and print apps?

We will be back. You have been warned!!

User

Ended up here two nights in a row on the tail end of a recent UK trip. Also managed to score an epic XOP bottle to stash for special occasions. Cheers Patrick!

User

Eddie and Robin know their stuff! Had a fab fun night drinking the best whisky, obviously!

User

Awesome dram last friday evening at Milroy's. Great bartenders, great company and great place. Thumbs up! Wishes I had more time to return while in London.

User

An amazing wall of Whisky, very welcoming staff and very knowledgable. I could have spent much longer in there.

User

A real eye opener! I have discovered I like the taste of the Isles.. I never realised that I was a secret whisky lover at heart. The bar staff really know their whisky & seem to enjoy it as well as being determined that you do too!

We had a great time & would thoroughly recommend whether a connoisseur, appreciator or complete novice! A superb experience, for each of our varied group.. It even has a secret speakeasy door!

However if you're looking to just get drunk go somewhere else, this wonderful place would be wasted on you.

User

Glad to see you open and busy!!!

Nice to be able to have a drink whilst shopping. Nice job on the gift wrapping !

I would have loved to post a photo

User

I wanted to love this place, but service was terrible!

We walked in, found a table, waited patiently for 10 minutes as the waitress completely ignored us. Eventually I had to stand up and flag her down to capture her attention, and then she said abruptly that we'd have to wait a minute. Sat down, waited another 10 minutes as she walked back and forth past us, then stopped to talk to a group of friends.

Eventually we gave up and left after 30 minutes.

Really disappointing as the cocktails looked fantastic, but from my observation she was more concerned with talking to some friends than actually serving customers.

A complete waste of time, seems best to avoid at any slightly busy time such as a Friday night, and obviously they're not concerned at all with a good customer experience.

Nice to be able to have a drink whilst shopping. Nice job on the gift wrapping !
