An amazing £5420 was raised for the Police Dependants Trust and Mind in Haringey by Police Emergency Response Team B last month, who completed the Three Peaks Challenge. A massive thank you from us to all 27 people who took part!
Head of the team Inspector Victoria Kneale said: "We set out with several aims for this trip; to climb three mountains, build esprit de corps, improve physical fitness and raise money in the process and I can quite happily say we hit all of those in abundance. All officers returned safe and well and the total for our fundraising for the Police Dependants Trust and Mind Haringey currently stands at £5420.00 which we are ecstaic about. All in all a success all round."
If you'd like to donate the fundraising page is still active and you can contribute here: https://www.justgiving.com/companyteams/E RPTB

Haringey Police Emergency Response Team B took on the gruelling Three Peaks Challenge over a 24 hour period at the end of September, fundraising for Mind in Haringey and Police Dependants’ Trust. The officers climbed the three highest peaks of England, Scotland and Wales beginning with Snowdon in Wales, moving onto Scafell Pike in England before finishing on Ben Nevis in Scotland.

From Inspector Victoria Kneale: "We arrived at the Pen y pas car park at 0430 where we set off for Mount Snowdon, unfortunately in the rain…and it didn’t get any better. The weather wasn’t on our side and the Pyg track was quite challenging, however after 3 hours we finally reached the summit….all 24 of them! It should be noted that over half of all officers walking had never done anything like this before."

Huge thanks to The Cause for their continuing support and fundraising. Local project Marmalade is all about partying with a purpose, bringing the community together to enjoy themselves while also raising awareness of important social issues. Earlier this month they threw a fundraiser for mental health charities including Mind in Haringey and CALM. Leading mental health organisations from the charity sector have come together to present Working Together to Prevent Suicide. This event will address issues such as male isolation that contribute to rising suicide rates, and look at what we can all do to help stem the tide. Featuring a screening of the documentary Same Story by Matt Harmer, as well as a Q&A session with the panel which includes Labour MP for Hornsey and Wood Green Catherine West, and a founding member of the Haringey Suicide Prevention Group and survivor of bereavement by suicide Professor David Mosse.
Due to venue size attendance will be limited to 120 people - get your ticket early to avoid missing out.
