I was watching a short documentary about Bob Marley last night and was reminded of his influence on us growing up in the 70/80's.
He was wise beyond his years, I guess that's what suffering does to you. For me, it's was his ability to see that the only way to stop violence, killing and injustice was through love. These words from the lyrics War are inspirational:
"Until, the philosophy... Which old one race superior and another Inferior Is finally And permanently Discredited And abandoned Everywhere is war Me say war
That until there no longer First class and second class citizens Of any nation Until the color of a man's skin Is of no more significance Than the color of his eyes Me say war"
It's a shame that we don't have many great leaders like Bob Marley anymore. Maybe it's time we all woke up and took responsibility for all the injustice around the world and right in front of us.

Jack Cornfield explains forgiveness in a very useful way. We forgive to move on, not to condone the wrong that was done.
We have all betrayed and hurt others, just as we have knowingly or unknowingly been harmed by them. It is inevitable in this human realm. Sometimes our betrayals are small, sometimes terrible. Extending and receiving forgiveness is essential for redemption from our past. To forgive does not mean we condone the misdeeds of another. We can dedicate ourselves to make sure they never happen again. But without forgiveness the world can never be released from the sorrows of the past. Someone quipped, “Forgiveness means giving up all hope for a better past.” Forgiveness is a way to move on.

Sadness seems to be a word we rarely talk about, it's like we can only be sad if something outside us affects us.
However sadness can come and go, sometimes it's there underneath everything and only surfaces on occasion.
Sadness isn't a constant state even though often it can feel like it.
... This quote from @christinarasmussen7 book Second Firsts tells us that we can let sadness be there without it taking hold of our whole life. We are complex creatures, nothing is ever constant, that is what we have to learn to live with.

Often we forget that one of the most important things about practicing to be here, in the present moment, is that what you do now directly affects your tomorrow.
Keep that firmly in printed in your mind, ask yourself if what you are doing now will have a positive or negative effect on your tomorrow. Then respond accordingly.
