About Mini Explorers Nursery

Here at Mini Explorers we endorse the outdoors. The emphasis is on outdoor learning and adventure. Your child will actively engage with the North Yorkshire countryside, feeding the farm animals, sowing seeds and watching crops grow whilst they grow too!

Mini Explorers Nursery Description

We hope that by taking elements from some of the leading Early Childhood thinkers and from other leading practice that our nursery will grow into a place where children can wallow in their childhood, engaging with the natural world.

Children need time to grow their own ideas and space to allow their thinking to branch out in different directions. The freedom to try out new things will enable children to connect their thinking without the fear of failure; there is a lot to learn when things don’t work out the way you plan them - we all learn through our mistakes.

Children are fascinated by the simple treasures they find; a prickly fir cone, a tiny flower, a shiny stone. At Mini Explorers we believe their world is naturally full to the brim of learning opportunities, counting the spots on a ladybird, mixing paint to the shades of autumn leaves and comparing the length of twigs.

We believe it is important to make the connection between the food we eat and where it comes from visible to children. We want to help them enjoy the cycle of planting, nurturing, harvesting and of course, eating the freshest of foods. At Mini Explorers children don’t just look at the seasons they feel, smell, hear and taste the seasonal changes. There is no substitute for first hand experiences.

Hello little spiky friend it was lovely to meet you and all our Mini Explorers kept very quiet whilst you had a little snuffle around,we popped you back once Grandad Bobby had finished cutting the grass and it was nice and safe. #farmschool #spikyfriend #lookafterournaturalworld ūü¶Ēūü¶Ē ūüźĆūüźĆūüźĆ

What noise does a Gruffalo make?! Nothing makes a story come alive like acting out the characters and its great for our literacy skills, even the sheep found it very exciting!

In a week of quite changeable weather we have had a million fantastic adventures, crop walks and educational activities on the farm. Our Mini Explorers are never concerned by what the weather might do, as Alfred Wainwright once said "There is no such thing as bad weather only unsuitable clothing!" ūüƶūüĆąūüĆß‚õÖÔłŹūüĆßūüĆßūüƶ‚ėÄÔłŹūüĆ•ū üí¶ūüí¶ #farmschool #resilienceisimportant #dontlettheweatherstopyouwearebritish

Nothing as lovely as feeding pet lambs at the end of a very busy day with the sun streaming through the shed. #farmschool #specialmemories #mixingmilkissecretmaths #onlyoneyorkshire #farmingiseducation ūüöúūüćľūüźĎūüźĎ‚ėÄÔłŹūüôā

Super worm is super long. Super worm is also very good at teaching all areas of the EYFS as every child loves to describe a worm ,guess how long it is and then watch as it finds its worm hole!

Encouraging our Mini Explorers to believe they are capable of helping on the farm is an important part of their development and builds their confidence, after making the milk its a fantastic feeling to feed some of those hungry tummies all on your own! #farmschool #mathsineverything #gettingthejobdone #loveingourlambs #farmermarkshelpers ūüćľūüćľ

What an inspirational chap David Attenborough is and I'm very glad that this man is having such an impact. Mini Explorers feels we must do as much as we can,we are moving away from all plastic and packaging and we will now enjoy one "Green Day" each week where we will use as little electricity as possible. Fire pits, home cooked snacks on the camp fire and a hot chocolate after tea whats not to love! The activities on the "Green Days" will be filled with some very different activities perfect for our little eco warriors. #protectourfuture #loveournaturalworld #itsnottoolate #bethechangeyouwanttoseeintheworld
