Misst At Hgs Description

On 23 April 2013 the MiSST was launched at a press conference at Highbury Grove School, Islington.

The MiSST promotes the education of young people at Highbury Grove School by supporting the school's model intensive music programme and
rolling out this programme to other secondary schools.

Each student as they enter the secondary school studies a classical musical instrument for a minimum of 3 years as part of their compulsory curriculum. The instrument and the tuition are at no cost to the students or their families.

All students on the programme are expected to practice and perform in ensemble and orchestral groups on a regular basis. In addition to Highbury Grove, the Andrew Lloyd Webber programme will acquired its first partner in September 2013, Lister Community School in Newham.

In September 2014 the MiSST will be partnering with two additional schools that are yet to be announced - stay tuned.

The Charles Wolfson Charitable Trust and the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation are co-founders of the MiSST. For more information please visit www. musicinsecondaryschoolstrust.org. uk
