Miy Workshop Description
At MIY Workshop you can make, do, create, sew, alter, repair and customise. The workshop is fully equipped with Janome sewing machines, 2. 4m long cutting table, pressing equipment and specialist tools.
Classes are open to all levels of sewing ability and in group classes there will only be a maximum of 5 people per class. You are free to work on whatever you want at the weekly classes, I don't have all students making the same thing and you can join us and start a block of classes whenever suits you - there are no fixed start dates, weekly classes are ongoing.
MIY Workshop was established and is run by me, Wendy Ward. I have been teaching dressmaking, pattern cutting and textiles at various colleges and adult education centres throughout Brighton since 2007. I have a degree in Fashion Design, an MA in Design and am a fully qualified, registered and CRB cleared teacher. In 2013 I became a regular contributor to Sewing World magazine and in 2014 started writing for Love Sewing magazine and had my first book published; the no. 1 best-selling "The Beginner's Guide to Dressmaking". My 2nd book "A Beginner's Guide to Making Skirts" was published in 2016 and I'm currently writing my 3rd which will be out early 2018!
