Shod Sid today, one of my customers... (couldn’t get him to stand square he’s not that broken back) He came out today and looked really long in the toe not something he’d looked before... not being a fan of a quarter clip normally But I can appreciate there is a time and place for them so decided to go with one today with Sid, 6 weeks and we will see how he got on. But he certainly looked better when I left

Last horse of 2018!! It’s been a good year thanks to all my customers for your patience this year and see you in 2019...

Nice surprise 🙂 this horses feet were not in the best condition when I took him on, correct trimming and regular farriery was the main reason for this change... we still have a bit to go but I’m happy with where we have come from. 2 shoeing cycles on quarter clips really helped us regain the HPA (hoof pastern axis) to the point where the foot is now complimented by a toe clipped shoe. not long now and we will be where I want to be with them. 🐴👍🏻

A really good day of learning...

Some competition practice from tonight...
Competition is always a good thing, it makes you want to do better and as a result means your day to day work also improves.
It also makes you concentrate on the basics, getting the basics right will always help towards getting the more difficult things right...

A good week away furthering my education and working towards my AWCF... the week consisted of a lot of remedial type shoeing specifically aluminium shoes and modern materials...

A nice gift from a customer today, said her horse had been going well since I’d been shoeing him... thanking you kindly I’m sure it will go down a treat 🙂🐴

This time last yeah we raised a lot of money for The Farriers Foundation. In a couple of weeks a lot of farriers are doing it again and any support for the charity which looks after injured and ill farriers would be much appreciated 👍🏻🐴

Different way of looking at things...

So this Saturday myself and an apprentice managed to get away to a competition near Bury St Edmunds, Norfolk. The competition involved us both making and fitting a specific shoe in 75 minutes, I did the fully fullered front and mark did the 3/4 fullered hind. The competition went really well both jobs fitted nicely we both took away points to work on but that’s why it’s good to do competitions... competing helps maintain high standards when doing the day to day work, here’s 2 pictures of each job 🙂🐎

Just one of the reasons farriers do a 4 year apprenticeship...

The shoes that went on Frankie the shire myself and Craig Ashurst Dipwcf made for the Royal Norfolk Show...

User

Yesterday Craig Ashurst Dipwcf and I to helped Jamie Bradbury with his preparations for the Royal Norfolk Show by putting some handmade shoes on his Shire.... Jamie is competing in the ridden heavy class 👍🏻💪🏻

Another Horse from today an Irish COB who’d been out of shoes for a while, fitted with a touch of lateral width... with every job you do there are points to work on and looking at this job my toe nail should have been a touch higher 😮
Apollo was good as gold to shoe and has a cool name 🙂 🚀

Met a new horse today, a 17 year old thoroughbred cross who’s feet were in need of some attention... the owner was happy for me to take some before and after pictures. Having taken the time necessary to dress the foot as well as we could and fit a shoe correctly I think the final outcome was a positive one.

User

I wish I’d taken a picture of the feet when I took this horse on it was really flat footed, and had quite poor hoof wall... having spoke to the owner we decided that a period out of shoes and regular trimming could help. It definitely worked and RUFF now has lovely feet... communication is key 👍🏻

Matt is brilliant every horse needs a Matt in their lives, he’s calm knowledgable, reliable, highly recommended by me and my girly horse.

User

Matt is a fantastic farrier! Our boy is barefoot and he always does a fab job of keeping his feet in the best condition. He is both knowledgeable and honest, never doing more than necessary and always taking time to listen to concerns and talk through things with you. I really can not recommend him enough!

User

Mat has done a fantastic job with a horse that has had some hoof issues in the past, he is patient and calm in his handling and happy to talk through what he's doing. His standard of shoeing reflects his passion for what he does yet he's also happy to trim my barefoot horse and is extremely knowledgeable.

User

Lovely thank you for your service. My horses enjoyed their shoes very much
