Being @MLS
We would like to give our best wishes to Sule, from Turkey, who finishes her course today. She has been studying Business English with us since the Spring and she has been consistently hard-working and motivated - making the very best of her time.
Good luck to her on her return to Turkey and on her return to work (where she can use her new, improved English!)

Being @MLS - Legal Studies
It's so nice to see ex-students! Today Eda and Barkin, from Turkey, came to visit their Legal Studies teacher Christian.
Eda and Barkin both studied 'Legal Studies and Business Communications' courses at MLS last year and they are both continuing with their Law degrees in Turkey.
... They said:
"We have a lot of good memories of MLS and shared some unforgettable moments. The Legal Studies course was very helpful for our university in Istanbul. We love Christian, we loved all of our teachers!"
She was too shy for a photo, but Elif, (again from Turkey) also came to visit us this week! She studied IELTS with us last year and particularly wanted to say hello to her teacher, Jen.
Good luck and very best wishes to all of them! Keep in touch!

What do MLS students do in the classroom? Teachers try to make it interesting, and working on a team project is an effective way to test your ability to communicate in English under pressure!
Here are the students from Russ's Business Topics class this afternoon.
... (We do have a number of engineers in the college!)

English for Aviation
We would like to end the week by sharing the words of Paulo, from Brazil - just one of our leavers this week. Thank you and best wishes to him (and to all of the other students who finished their courses today!).
"I’m a pilot in Brazil and English is very important for my job and my life. When I was looking for an English course my agent recommended MLS College in Bournemouth because they specialise in Aviation English.... I have been here for the last 4 weeks and I have had a really amazing time. Most of my classes have been General English and I have met people from all over the world while I have been working on my grammar and learning new vocabulary! I also had 1:1 training in English for Aviation and my teacher has really helped me to prepare for the SDEA – ICAO test I have to pass in Brazil. The lessons were really fun and useful at the same time. The teaching techniques are great and I have had so much opportunity to speak and to practise. Apart from the classes, there is a great atmosphere at MLS. Everyone is really friendly and there are lots of social activities where you can meet new people. I’m very grateful to my 4 special teachers Kevin, Phil, Shaun, Tracy and all the MLS staff. I don’t want to go home – it’s just been an amazing experience!"

Congratulations to Mariany, from Brazil, who achieved a C2 in Module 1 of BULATS (Reading and Listening) today!
This is an impressive result and not something that is easily realised! She will be receiving the results for the other 2 modules (Speaking and Writing) next week.
... Very well done to her!

Another Friday and we're saying goodbye to another group of students who have finished their courses in Business English, Legal Studies and General English. Some of these students, such as Yusuf, from Turkey, have been with us for 6 months - so this is a big day. Culture shock returning home after so long!
Good luck and best wishes to all of them - we hope they take away happy memories of MLS and all the people they have met here.

Being @MLS
This Summer we were pleased to welcome Anna Sophie, from Denmark, who has been blind from birth. She is used to being the only blind person, but she was more surprised to be the only Danish student in the college, which made her feel rather proud.
At the end of her 4 weeks at MLS Anna is pleased with her progress and has noticed a definite improvement in her English, particularly in listening and in her ability to speak more fluently. Her General English sched...ule included a self-study period, which she really appreciated. This gave her the opportunity to collate her notes and process everything she had learned in the group lessons.
Full course documentation was provided in advance of her stay and our Deputy Director of Studies has been converting all of the course materials ahead of class into a format that is readable for Anna. This enabled her to fully participate in the lessons. All of the teachers and students have been working to verbalise the visual aspects of the course, including describing the pictures from the course materials and making sure that everything written on the board was spelled and described out loud. This, of course, has been very positive for everyone’s English progress!
Anna has felt herself to be very much part of the college community. The other students at MLS have been absolutely brilliant and she has made lots of friends. Not only has she played an active part in the lessons, but she has also taken part in a range of social activities.
Horse riding “The horse riding and cooking dinner with other students afterwards was very, very enjoyable. It was an amazing day.”
MLS Summer Boat Party “I wish the Boat Party was longer… until midnight! I absolutely loved it!”
Conversation Club “The MLS Conversation Club is awesome! It’s so crowded and a really good place to meet people.”
She was also welcomed to the Bournemouth Blind Society, where she was lucky enough to make friends with a woman of a similar age to herself. Another advantage to attending events with them, such as archery, was that she was in touch with a group of native speakers!
There was also very high praise for her homestay family host, Helen. Anna said, “It is not often that you meet people that you get along with so well. It is going to be hard to deal with the fact that I’m going home and I am not going to have her as a companion. I have enjoyed every moment and every second of the time I have spent with her.”
Thank you to the Bournemouth Blind Society #bournemouthblindsociety for all their support and advice and thank you to MLS students for being so thoughtful and kind. Thank you, too, to Anna, for choosing MLS!
