Mollington Banastre Hotel & Spa - Chester

Booked 2 rooms for 2 nights at the Mollington. Overall experiences were 1st class! Appreciating that this is an "older" hotel the communal lounge/dining/bar areas are very tastefully decorated and offered a very nice and relaxing, chilled environment with natural light and pleasant garden views.
The leisure and spa area was huge and had everything we needed....pool was a nice temperature also.
We all found the rooms to be fine....warm, clean and the beds were comfy.....bathrooms were also fine and both had good showers also.
Breakfast was excellent and offered a good selection of choice.
Reception staff (Chloe especially), Manager, Housekeeping, Bar and Leisure staff were very friendly, helpful and courteous.......never a problem getting a taxi for us (and we used a lot of them!).
Overall....lovely experience and we will certainly be back and will be recommending it to others. WELL DONE MOLLINGTON!

Attended for work course. Facilities for the course are great, food provided is lovely. Room unfortunately very dated, not much in the way of facilities. No air con, beds are a bit uncomfortable. Only two plug sockets in the room, neither near the bed to charge phone over night. Bathroom is clean but radiator is leaking water on to the floor. Staff are very helpful and polite. Overall venue is pleasant, just a shame the room let's it down. It's clear they are slowly refurbishing, but there's nothing anywhere to tell you that. Spa area was lovely, clean and relaxing.

As an exhibition venue it works on some levels, the fragmented result of rooms all around mean it would be great for a multi themed event but for wedding fayres or single themed events it feels like a more cohesive structure would be preferable. The lattes took an age to arrive and cost quite a bit for considering the relationship between the price and the temperature... we missed the (free for exhibitor) tea and coffee by 2 minutes (which in my opinion this should have been a throughout-the-event thing for exhibitors). Access was limited to the extent that the double fire doors at the back of the suite were completely blocked... Not clever for us but also from a H&S point of view. This is not a reflection on the staff who were accommodating and pleasant.

Awful place, rude staff, dirty rooms, no lift we had a pram and luggage as we were stopping then heading to york the following day we got there late after a 7 hr serve went in for food and were rushed i had to feed the baby while eat so was eating a little slower i was asked half way through my dinner to order desert my meal was quite big i wasn't sure if i wanted desert we ordered anyway and as it happened i didn't but my husband did. The waitress was in the corner on her phone on facebook i had to go ask for milk and sugar for my coffee and salt for dinner. Sounds petty but we had the honeymoon suite the most expensive room.. the room was dusty and no where near as clean as i expected for a room that's hard to book we had no tv remote and when we looked around for it the dust was awful i moved the sofa it still had. Confetti all over it and under it from a previous visitor. The toilet was filthy i had to clean it before using it and the base of the shower was dirty too. We paid a lot of money for that room and got the cost of the main meal back. Wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I went there as a tribute to my friends mum who worked there for years when we were kids, she had sadly passed away the week before i felt let down. Sorry but 1 star for the manager that listened too us.

My boyfriend can tell me that was 4* all he likes. The place needs a total revamp. Doesn't look anything like the pictures. Needs a good clean too. The room where we stayed wasn't clean. Stains on pillows/cushions there was not enough pillows or blankets. Cracks in the walls and other people's pubes on the side of the bath.
Aside from that the staff we're lovely although not English so couldn't really understand them. And I'm sure they made up their own prices for the bar. I mean a fiver a pint? Come on... Definitely not going back.

A pleasant hotel situated a 45 min walk, 10 min drive outside Chester. I did not use the spa and only stayed while working in the area. While this is a very clean hotel it is in desperate need of modernising. There was limescale & mold on the shower head & hose. The heating in bathroom worked fine while the heating in the room barely worked. The fittings and furnishings where dated and a I came away with the impression it was trying to hard to be something it was not.

The location was perfect for work, the food was sadly lacking, and the alcohol was over priced. The walls were terribly thin so very little sleep was had resulting in being too tired to use the spa facilities in the morning.

Staying for a weekend in Chester, the room has been freshly refurbished and is lovely. The staff are great and the breakfast was amazing and such a varied choice there was something for everyone. Very close to Chester city centre so easy access for shopping etc. Great stay

We stayed here for 1 night on a Sunday. Just my wife and I. We had a lovely Sunday evening dining in and using the bar meals menu. We didn't want a formal meal but the restaurant did look nice. The food was good and very reasonably priced.
We followed dinner with drinks from the bar. It was very quiet which suited us and the fire gave a lovely atmosphere.

The room was OK. A bit dated to be honest but not untidy or shabby and some reviews made me apprehensive. It was clean and tidy. We both had a fab nights rest.

We didn't use the spa facilities on offer as we chose to head into chester which is only 5 minutes drive away.
