Just a friendly reminder, while businesses close over COVID-19, farms and barns will NOT be closing. Farmers, ranchers, stable owners and workers continue about their daily routine as if nothing has happened. Mouths still need to be fed, seeds still need to be planted, crops need to be sown, livestock still need to be tended to.
While the whole world is in panic, think about if we didn't have farmers, take your time to thank a farmer for the clothes you wear, the food you eat..., the things you use on a daily basis. For their work is never done.
They will drive their product to market for people to consume. They are another unsung hero that is greatly overlooked. They continue to work before the sun comes up and after the sun goes down. They rarely take sick days unless they are on death's door. They will still get up and drag their sick aching body out to the barn to check on the newborn calf that was a breech last night, to feed that old breeding sow that has been with them for years, to make sure their dogs have extra water incase they nap for too long. They even sleep in the straw with orphaned babies to keep them warm, sacrificing their own comfort of their bed for the scratchy stiff straw in their Jean's and shirt. They will gladly get their equipment stuck to place feed out for their animals or to get them unstuck.
Not just that, they will go out of their way to pull cars out of ditches, run groceries to neighbors, allow them to borrow a cup of sugar.
Farmers and ranchers are of a unique breed, they are tough as nails; with rough hands that have hammered nails, chopped wood, fixed cars and machinery, and hauling hay bales, to some of the kind hearted people; they will come when you call, if you are stuck and in trouble, they pull babies from their mothers and hold them while they take their first breath of air,and hold them tight while the elderly take their last.
So, while you get to work from home, just take one second to thank those those that are still working hard. Thank a farmer, rancher, stable owner and worker.
Also thank all the medical staff at hospitals and clinics, people continue to get sick while things are closed. Thank your veterinarian and veterinary staff because animals don't stop getting sick while the government is shutting places down. Thank the police men and women who are working to keep everyone safe. Thank the firefighters who are still there to put out fires and pull people out or wrecks. Thank paramedics that rush people to and from hospitals in order to save lives.
In a time of panic, thank all of you for everything you do. I wish I could name all of you, but then it would be a never ending post.
