Carrying your baby in a sling is an invaluable skill and learning to feed in one even more so! I highly recommend Lizzie’s workshop this month to learn how to safely use a sling to support breastfeeding.
“After all, our ability to become pregnant is the root excuse for treating women as second-class citizens. If we don’t value women’s humanity in this act, which is particular to them and something that is so intertwined with the barriers women face to full and equal participation in society, then we make it an easy access point for the disruption of feminist progress.”
Happy Friday everyone! ❤️🌈
OMG! 😍
Thank you to the The Doula Element for this.
Good vibes build rad tribes! Join the Motherhood Movement in Benfleet for a cup of tea, a slice of cake and a huge dollop of love. ❤️
While funding cuts to maternity and breastfeeding peer support fails us and with Britain among the worst breastfeeding rates in the world we can find money to help men lactate. Apparently.
Key messages from the 2018 MBRRACE report. . These are startling stats for many of us. . We will be discussing this and more tonight at our feminist panel discussion at @do.it.like.a.mother_hq with @readysteadyjoy @lizbeingserious @annahirmisbaker and @this_girl_is_enough ... . . . . . . . . #feminist #feminism #feministmovement #feminismforall #intersectionalfeminism #intersectionalfeminist #radfem #birth #blackbirthmatters #doula

Samhain! 🎃 We are the daughters of the witches they couldn’t burn! 🧙🏻♀️ Women who used herbs to heal or intuition to guide others were branded witches and burned. 🔥... It may seem the world is very different now but women still face many obstacles in work and in particular when we exercise our ultimate feminine power during pregnancy and birth. 🤰🏼 Becoming a mother is so much more than birthing a baby. We are transformed. Our metamorphosis totally transforms our brains and bodies. 🦋 We change in the most profound of ways which us often why we notice the disparity and inequity in the lives of men and women, especially parents. If you are near Chalkwell why not join us for an evening of enlightenment, knowledge sharing and good company to discuss what feminism means in 2018. It’s only £12 including reception drinks and nibbles with all profits going to SOSDAP. BOOK TICKETS HERE:

Feminism is not about women. It’s not just how women are treated. Feminism tackles how we treat men. How we condition boys to feel entitled to female attention and how these toxic environments can produce powerful men who abuse people. It’s about everyone! Come along to our event this Friday where we will discuss this and more. Babes-in-arms are welcome. All profits to SOSDAP. ... https://www.doitlikeamother.co.uk/…/do- i-need-feminism-doe…/

No group in Benfleet tomorrow back to normal next week.
Powerful, truthful and touching. 💔
Only 52% of women are now having spontaneous labours. The decline of physiological birth is a worrying trend. With increasing research and knowledge in epigenetics and the human microbiome we are beginning to understand the impact this will have in the long term future of human reproduction.
“Pat O'Brien, consultant obstetrician and spokesman for the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists, said women over 40 giving birth were not allowed to continue past their due da...te and this was pushing up inductions.”
These attitudes must be challenged! Blaming women within the culture of fear-based defensive obstetric practice all the while removing her agency is illogical at best.
Women need education. With knowledge, women can make informed choices based on individual risk vs benefit. We are not averages. Not all old, fat women will kill their babies by not following your rules so please stop telling us to shut up and listen when it is us who need to be heard!
Hire a doula, make some noise and birth your way.

Who is coming? Only £12 for an evening of thoughtful discussion, drinks and nibbles plus the feel good factor that it’s raising money for a great cause!
When Lynsey walked into the room giving birth changed. She really helped me find my way into hypobirthing and was there to support me and hubby though out the process, often literally. Joe still mentions her guns of steel.
Of all the things I purchased for the baby, for the birth, for the nursery, this was the expense I've never questioned. It was worth it over and again both in the run up and on the day.
Lynsey was such an amazing support in the early stages of my breastfeeding journey, at a time when I was struggling with thrush, a cracked nipple and sheer exhaustion she guided me back to a positive mindset and gave me a new motivation and determination to succeed. Without this invaluable support my BF journey would have ended before it even began. Now almost 5 months down the line I cannot thank her enough, feeding my little boy is my biggest joy.
Lynsey is very, very knowledgeable, she helped me all the way through my labour, she is delicate, soft and very kind hearted but powerful at the same time.
In those moments when you are between two dimensions like we felt, between unborn and born it's normal to feel scared
And you need some sort of angel presence, and she is truly a God send in those moments.
She took my fear of birthing away and she kept it away.
I had a beautiful, not so painful birth and of course it was heavy and long (as labours naturally are) and I know I couldn't have had it that way, without Lynsey.
Lynsey has given me so much support, it's hard to put the all into words. Emotionally buoyed me up when my eldest was a toddler and I was struggling. Fed me cake and coffee.
Facilitated my breastfeeding goals being met second time round against all the odds. Supports my clients at the drop of a hat. So lucky to have her in my life and recommend connecting with her to all local pregnant women .
