We require a drainage trainee to assist a drainage engineer as part of a two person team operating drain jetting equipment, carrying out reactive emergency blockages and associated drainage works at both domestic and commercial sites.
A great opportunity for a candidate to start a career as full training will be provided.
Although starting in a junior role, there is opportunity to progress to the position of Drainage Engineer within the company for trainees who display an abi...lity to fulfill such a role.
We are a 24/7 company and we would require flexibility and occasional weekends
Typical types of works carried out : Drain unblocking, CCTV drainage surveys, drain repairs, ground works, drain relining, jetting, plumbing repairs, septic tank installation ect.
The ideal candidate will be confident and able to work independently as well as part of a team. Must be physically fit and healthy as there will be a lot of manual handling.

Drainage Interceptor Traps
Manhole interceptor traps were originally installed to prevent sewer air from venting within domestic systems at a time when the authorities were unsure of the health risks and dangers that this foul air may carry, even at the time there were those who opposed the installation of the traps because they cause waste matter to sit in the outlet of a chamber until the next flush.
It was therefore left to individual authorities whether they specified th...e installation of traps or not and for this reason they are common in certain parts of the UK on houses of a certain age, and not so common in others.
The initial thought was that the trap would prevent the foul air and rodents from leaving the sewer systems and surfacing within domestic properties and to some degree this may have been the case, however the traps created their own problems partly because they were often installed on combined storm and foul drainage systems and as a result silt and debris would collect in the trap causing the occasional blockage.
The solution to these type of problems is to carry out interceptor removal and insert a straight section of pipework. This completely eliminates the troublesome trap causing all your blockages.

Pitch Fibre is an awful product that is usually found in property’s from the nineteen sixties through to the early 1970`s and it was introduced to the united kingdom because it was lighter and cheaper choice to vitrified clay.
Manufactured in lengths of 8ft with push fit joints it offered a fast and simple installation with no want for the sand and cement haunching of joints related with clay pipe work, bedded on sand it had been thought to be a modern vers...atile system at the time.
Thankfully the product was only used for a comparatively short number of years due to the development of the pvc drainage systems, there are large amounts of pitch fibre pipe work drainage systems coming to the end of their operating life in the united kingdom.
Unfortunately what was being installing was a pitch impregnated papier mache tube, which is now thought to have a design life of forty years and at least one UK manufacturer who had the foresight to strengthen their pipe work using of all things asbestos fibres.
The Pipework collapses and becomes misshaped once beneath any kind of external ground pressure and as usual there was little specification for pipe bedding when it was therefore it depends on the sub-soil for external support.
The internal wall blisters and de-laminates when it comes into prolonged contact with water and the push fit collars within the foul system offer no resistance to tree root ingress.
Repair method :
Pitch fibre re-rounding to return the deformed pipework back to its original shape by way of winching a re-rounding tool through the drain re opening the deformities and removing blisters.
Resin drain lining to prevent any further damage to existing pipework and deformities.
