Today is #worldnotobaccoday and I want to discuss the side effects of smoking on our immediate health & performance & employability.... . Smoke and heat damages our lung tissue, reducing lung capacity AND THEREFORE reducing efficient oxygen exchange from the lung tissue to the blood stream. Our cardiovascular fitness is directly effected by the reduction in oxygen, meaning reduced oxygen supply to our muscles... hello heavy legs & lactic acid!! . Tobacco use also increases the heart rate and effort, making our cardiovascular system work in overdrive... leaving you more short of breath & less able to cope with the demands of exercise throughout performance... fitness suffers with smoking! . Our ability to filter and clear our airways is reduced, leaving you prone to infections, colds and difficulty in controlling Asthma. . There's some evidence to suggest smoking reduces muscular flexibility! It also increases CELLULITE! .
