You're already probably aware of the notion that people buy emotionally first before applying logic to their decision making (can I afford/need/effect of the purchase).
It useful to communicate the emotional gains or avoidances of your offer in your pitch. IME people want:
Confidence... Security Surety Peace of mind
Use this words in your pitch. If the customer will attain thise feelings after your product has been installed or used, tell them that's what they get in your pitch.

Some really interesting conversations going on in the 4N community about limiting beliefs and how they affect your performance in business. Beliefs can be changed, you just need to dare 'go there' to change.
Your 40-60 second intro at networking events is crucial to creating immediate understanding of what you do.
Have various pitches available - using the same one over and over again is a bit like (for the audience) seeing the same advert on TV over and over again. Interesting at first, them predictable, then BORING!
