3-year PhD studentship (see link below) for the interdisciplinary project entitled, A biomaterial-based tissue engineering approach for augmentation of articular cartilage repair (start date: Oct 2018).
https://www.findaphd.com/search/ProjectDe tails.aspx…
The project will be carried out in collaboration with a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon in University Hospital Southampton, an industrial partner and a Bioengineering academic, and aims to analyse the ability of three commer...cially available biomaterial scaffolds to support the attachment, viability, proliferation and differentiation of stem cells from human bone marrow and articular cartilage, and promote the generation of 3-D, hyaline-like cartilage constructs, which can then be implanted to enhance the repair of articular cartilage defects.
Applications for this project/studentship are to be made via the link in the advert, clearly specifying Dr Rahul Tare as the project supervisor. The deadline for applications is 31st May, after which shortlisted applicants will be invited for Skype interviews in June.
If you wish to discuss any details of the project informally, please contact Dr Rahul Tare (R.Tare@soton.ac.uk).
