M&S Braintree Simply Food

Good food, friendly staff, clean and well presented shop. The only criticism is slightly higher prices than alot of other larger shops.

We were staying at a hotel nearby, and came here for breakfast. We wanted some fresh, wholesome food, and knew that M&S had some great salads in their prepared food department, which would be a welcome change from traditional fried breakfast foods. Be aware that, although the shop opens at 8am, the café doesn't open until 8:30.

Once we found some salads and rolls, we went to the café counter to order some hot drinks and pay for everything. Yes, we were told, we could pay for our salads at the café counter. But NO, we would NOT be allowed to eat them in the café. We would have to drink our teas in the café, and eat our breakfast in the car park!

I suggested that they look the other way. They declined to do that. So we left, without buying anything.

Feel really sorry for all the staff. They all work so hard especially in the café but it always seem understaffed. I can't criticise the staff in the Coffee shop they are all lovely and they work so hard and are always friendly. I blame it on bad management and low morale.

Nice supermarket always well stocked and attentive staff.

Called up to enquire what Christmas food has arrived in store to see if I could reserve some items as my wife would be in the area this afternoon. To be told by a staff member we do not reserve food!!! My reply was okay then could I just find out if a specific item is in and again I was told NO we do not offer that service!!!!!!! I would feel better about this situation if the staff member was friendly. I spend good money at this store on a regular basis. I am so frustrated!!!!!

Lovely food here to take home & cook. I have still not been in the restaurant part.
