Msc Oncology & Palliative Care E-Learning Newcastle University Description

This programme has been developed and is administered by Newcastle University in association with the Northern Centre for Cancer Care (NCCC) and affiliation with the Northern Institute of Cancer Research (NICR). Our teachers are experts in clinical practice and research in the fields of palliative care, oncology and the pharmaceutical industry

Online distance learning – no campus attendance required
Modular programmes – choose from Certificate, Diploma, MSc or stand alone modules
Three pathways – Oncology, Oncology for the Pharmaceutical Industry or Palliative Care
All programmes offered are Multi-disciplinary work-based, using the Virtual Learning Environment, Blackboard. Highlighting the inter-relationship between oncology and clinical cancer service provision, they include mutually valuable information which will facilitate change in clinical practice.

The programmes cover all aspects of delivering seamless care to patients and include treatment modalities, biological, psychosocial and ethical perspectives.

It provides multi-professional pathways in the fields of oncology and palliative care. It will develop practitioners who are prepared to offer clinical leadership, clinical excellence, and cultivate interdisciplinary collaboration in the delivery of evidence based oncology /palliative care. Aimed at practitioners including:

doctors, nurses, pharmacists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists and radiographers
or for SHOs and Registrars training for part one of the FRCR examination or in Medical Oncology.
You must be competent in the use of the Internet, e-mail and word-processing packages. You can study from anywhere in the world as long as you have access to a computer and a reliable internet connection.

Successful completion of all assessments and the entire programme will lead to the award of an MSc in Oncology or in Palliative Care (180 credits). Alternatively, you can study towards a Postgraduate Diploma (120 credits), or Postgraduate Certificate in Cancer Studies (60 credits)
