Slim Fit or Regular Fit?
There are a lot of questions to consider when you visit the tailor. One of these is whether you’re going to choose a slim fit or a regular fit suit.
Both of these types of fit refer to the way your suit is cut and how closely it fits on your body. Slim fit clothes have been in fashion in recent years, and many high street suits are designed this way. However, many people prefer the comfort and look of regular fit.

Some of our clients often ask what they can add to their bespoke suits to add some flair... Contrasting buttonholes are a simple yet bold solution.

The Mullen & Mullen store at 16 High Petergate is proudly part of the York Conservation Trust. These properties are of timber-framed construction (mock Tudor) and were built in the early 20th century as a replica of the two-storeyed, late medieval buildings, which previously stood on this site. They do, however, incorporate some of the original re-used timbers, which were presumably from the earlier buildings.

Style Inspiration from Cillian Murphy
Cillian Murphy is an Irish actor well known for his roles in The Dark Knight Trilogy, 28 Days Later, Cold Mountain, The Wind That Shakes the Barley and the BBC series Peaky Blinders. What you may not know is that Murphy began his career in a rock band alongside his younger brother, Páidi.
Murphy is an enigmatic and versatile actor. Despite his success in the industry, he has remained very private. He didn’t appear on any live chat shows ...until 2010, almost two decades after his first film roles.

The lining of a bespoke jacket is an integral part of the suits look, both structurally and fashionably...

A small glimpse of the Mullen & Mullen store through Bootham Bar which has been one of the gateways to the historic city of York for nearly 2000 years. The history of Bootham Bar dates back to Roman times. Its name comes from the fact it had a market close to it. It has arches of gritstone and limestone and three floors. Three statues stand on the top of the turret level. You can still enter it today to see the portcullis and a view of the the Minster.

Why do men keep the last button of suits open?
There is a story that never fastening the last button on a suit jacket dates back to Louis XIV. In preparation for a grand ball, the king found himself a little too hefty to close all of the buttons on his favourite formal jacket. The other men at court did the same and started this "fashion".

Did you know polo players invented buttoned-down shirt collars? Trying to hook a mallet on horseback is difficult enough without a face full of shirt collar.
And polo shirts were first worn by tennis players, not polo players
