An opportunity:
Research assistant required
Researchers within the School of Design at Northumbria University are seeking a research assistant to help with an impact case study being developed for REF2021, exploring de-risking strategic decisions by design.
... This position will involve scoping and cataloguing various research materials/outputs to find sources to corroborate claims to impact, thus would suit a well-organised individual with a good eye for detail.
Knowledge of research impact and the Research Excellence Framework (REF) is desirable though not essential, as advice and guidance will be provided by the impact team (based in Research and Innovation Services, Pandon Building).
This position is full-time for 6 weeks from mid/late - October, however, there may be room for negotiation for the right candidate.
Typically, applicants will hold a PhD or be close to completing their doctoral study.

We are looking for 50 ambitious, creative and entrepreneurial individuals who want to build, from scratch, brand new commercial businesses which make a big difference to the quality of later life for millions of older people across the developed world.
As in our previous programmes, we are looking for a very diverse range of people, in terms of gender, age, nationality, ethnicity and skills. In this mission, we are recruiting clinicians, engineers, financial services experts, creative designers, researchers, serial entrepreneurs, product managers, NGO innovators, life scientists, care managers, creative content-makers and others with the passion, skills, experience and/or imagination to transform the quality of later life.
Our aim is to help these individuals build 15 or more new businesses by June next year. Our 9-month, full-time programme starts in September and is based in central London.

Design Wizard in action

Today, ace MDI tutor and Design Wizard Neil, together with Innovator in Residence @Justine CW are taking the next stage of our design-led enterprise message back to Armenia #FutureIsMDI

Thanks to British Council Creative Spark funding, MDI colleagues Freddie Gibbons and Nick Spencer are on the last leg of their travels to Armenia tonight... taking our design-led innovation practice to help start-ups and entrepreneurs develop and grow their ideas and businesses. #FutureIsMDI

MDI staff get around - Mark is currently working in Ljubljana on the future of employment, whilst Neil is en route to Tbilisi to kick off our new British Council funded project with the American University of Armenia (it’s OK, we know Tbilisi is in Georgia). Just as well our crack team of Design and Business academics and Innovators in Residence are holding the fort and doing great work with our latest group of wonderful students!
