The Yiddish recorded in this book is that spoken by Joseph Witriol's mother [Yetta Witriol, nee Balin, c1880- 1972] - mumme loohshen. In the few instances where this deviates, or seems to deviate, from “printed” Yiddish he still records what he heard his mother speak.
