What a fantastic open mic night we had last week , the winners thanks to 3 incredible performances were Chris , Martin and Steve. Martin defended last months trophy so come along in Dec and see if he can make it an unprecedented hat trick. A huge thanks to all the musicians and supporters who attended.

fabulous surroundings and so friendly atmosphere food is fantastic and the guest beers amaze your pallet staff are so welcoming and the owners Julie and john are excellent hosts so pop in and come try your not be disappointed it's like my 2nd home

Wow!! Gorgeous food and so filling which is just what you want. So many meals to choose from I was spoikt for choice and hoped to have the whole 3 course meal. As it was a decent portion I only managed 2 course. Definitely recommend The Murg!

We had a great evening out at the Murg. Our first attendance at a open mic event. A variety of musicians and singers entertained with a mix of genre all evening. Very funny moments from a chap playing guitar and singing as his Harmonica slipped further down his face, followed by his glasses! He wasn't phased and performed very well �. We met a 'trio of trouble', as I liked to nick name 'em, who to our surprise were artists that got up and performed some good tracks. Great musicians. Later in the evening, after enjoying other performers such as a Poet who'd created a good laugh in relation to the theme of the evening 'Heaven & Hell' to listening to a couple of young lady soloists on guitar who were great and, a karaoke duet who tried hard to remember words! then an accapella performance which was very good. All leading on to a superb keyboard performer and, an amazing drummer, knocking out some great sing-a-long Queen tracks, that had lots of people joining in.

A wonderful evening!

We celebrated my eldest daughters birthday with a trip to the murg in skircoat green yesterday x we had the most beautiful meal. We had five starters and five main. In total 10 clean dishes. Not a crumb was left. Warm meals served on hot plates is the best tonic. Every dish was Beautifully presented and extremely tasty. 10/10 for you all at the murg. Definitely will be back to visit soon x Such a lovely end to a special day. Thank you julie n John xxxxxx

Visited here this evening with my partner and son. Fantastic atmosphere, service and the food was amazing! Great new menu and chef. Best meal out we’ve enjoyed together this summer! (We’ve eaten out a lot!)

Great local! always some good Real Ales, highlight of the month is the Open Mic night first Sunday of every month.

Fabulous food. Best pub Sunday roast I have had in a long time! Definitely going there again. Staff are lovely too!

Delicious food that's a fabulous price. The Sunday 3 course lunch fills you for the day. Great kids choices too. Friendly staff and fantastic service. They are happy to cater for two or ten! I would recommend booking at peak times. Can't wait to go back.

Could not recommend this place enough the food was superb and the staff were very helpful when it came to having to feed our twins.

Awesome open mic on Sundays with a great, receptive crowd. The staff are super friendly and can't go wrong with a delicious Yorkshire ale.

Apologies for delay, I had such a good time last Saturday at the Murg. Had tapas with a group of friends and it was a fantastic night, great hosts and fabulous food. I have coeliac disease and was delighted at the choice of gluten free tapas. Not only did I have amazing choice, as did my husband (a non-coeliac!) but everything was cooked to perfection and delicious. The chicken and chorizo paella was amazing as were the plums wrapped in pancetta. Can't praise the chef enough, well done. Looking forward to the next one � Thank you one and all x

I attended the Murtroyd today following a funeral. Atmosphere was frosty on arrival. The relatives of the dearly deceased paid for the first drink for the moaners. When I went to the bar to get a class of wine the landlady approached me in a rather hostile and aggressive manner accusing me of already having had a glass of wine. The barmaid vouched this was not the case. No apology. She succeeded in humiliating me. Under the circumstances I held my tongue .....with great difficulty. I have class and respect something clearly lacking in the landlady. The buffet she cleared away (folk was still eating) faster than a rat up a drain pipe. BAD!! During the time we were there she constantly watched me. Not sure if she was afraid I might nick something or perhaps she just did not like the colour of my skin. They may have won pub of the year some years ago but clearly social skills do not prevail. Never again will they have my custom.

Oh no! Another disappointing trip to our nearest pub! Tried it 3 times now and it’s a constant disappointment despite folk recommending it . Surly bar staff and over priced beer. The landlord and landlady are away .... so the miserable bar staff will play ... not with us they won’t! ���
