The Minister of Defence, Alhaji Mansur Dan-Ali has called for increased inter security-agency collaboration due to increase hardline crimes in parts of the country. Alhaji Mansur made the call at a workshop on "Citizen in Uniform: Implementing Rule of Law and Human Rights in the Armed Forces" held in Lagos. He said that beyond the insurgency in the North East, kidnapping, cattle rustling, farmers/headers clashes and associated banditry were now threatening the peaceful coexistence of Nigeria. President Muhammadu Buhari has on Thursday signed into law the national disability bill, 17 years after it was initiated, making it mandatory for government organisations to reserve 5 percent slot for people living with disability. The United States (US) and the United Kingdom (UK) on Thursday, say they will sanction individuals or party that attempt to truncate Nigeria's election, scheduled for February 2019. The Lagos State House of Assembly on Tuesday said that circumstances had removed the need for the offices of Minority Leader and Minority Whip in the House. The Chairman, House Committee on Information, Strategy, Publicity and Security, Tunde Braimoh, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos. The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has appealed a court order to unfreeze a Skye Bank account belonging to the former first lady, Patience Jonathan. The Federal High Court in Lagos last Thursday directed that the freeze order on the account be cancelled. The account holds about $5.8 million (about N1.8 billion).
