SO pleased to find a bank that STILL uses staff and have not gone automated. I love that about this branch. The staff are SO helpful.

I do NOT trust cash machines and NEVER use machines that are 'outside', as these are susceptible to tampering. In fact, if I HAVE to use a machine - which is almost never - I ONLY use ones that are 'inside' a bank. But, I always choose to deal with a person.

One criticism of this branch is that you get staff pestering people in the queue and asking if they wish to use an ATM. Whereas, it would make more sense for them to let us make our 'OWN' choice. These staff could then stand 'NEAR' ATMs and watch for criminals looking over people's shoulders and trying to see pin numbers. This would make far more sense. Recently, a staff member came down the queue asking EACH person if we want to use an ATM. Then a minute later ANOTHER staff member did the same until a person in front of me told her that someone had ALREADY asked us. In fact, one could argue that by encouraging people to use ATMs is tantamount to causing redundancies. After all, banks "close" because people are using ATMs instead of dealing with a person. The Crystal Peaks branch are STILL open, but you HAVE to use ATMs as they removed cashiers. Please STOP using ATMs otherwise the staff at the High Street branch will be the next to go!

I really hope they do NOT remove staff and go automated (OR CLOSE), as is happening to other branches. I love this branch and staff are so helpful. I would be devastated if this branch ever go automated as happened. As I say, the branch at Crystal Peaks Nat West HAS sadly gone automated. WE "NEED" THAT PERSONAL TOUCH THAT ONLY HUMAN BEINGS CAN PROVIDE.

If you wish to help secure people's jobs, STOP using ATMs and insist on ONLY dealing with a human being!!!! I DO!

ADDENDUM: If you received a new debit card which has the 'contactless' symbol, be VERY careful.
These cards CAN be read by criminals even by them brushing against you. I'm not even sure if they NEED to 'touch' you. Scammers are VERY clever. In fact, I "think" they can scan your card even if you are simply standing or sitting next to the criminal. Yes, these cards ARE dangerous!

If you HAVE a contactless card and you do NOT use it contactless, I would recommend you ask the bank for a non-contactless card. It does NOT cost you anything to get it replaced. And it CAN save you from getting your bank account rifled by criminals.

Nat West admitted to me that they send these contactless cards out 'automatically' regardless whether you have asked for one. Therefore, if you have one and do not want it, ask them to replace it. These cards are NOT safe. Yes, you can buy 'shielded' wallets for them so they cannot be scanned by criminals. But why should you have to? It is the responsibility of ALL banks to to ensure they are safe and secure BEFORE introducing them.

I have seen people in shops using them where they simply put the card up to the scanner. After all, it shows how lazy some people ARE if they cannot even be bothered to input FOUR digits! And what happened if you lose it, a criminal could have a field day because they do NOT need your PIN number.

Yes, as with anywhere, I have my favourite staff members. In fact, one is so friendly she often waves to me if she sees me queueing. Such a polite lady.

I have been to this branch twice since I moved to Sheffield from the South in July this year and on both occasions had to queue up for 40 mins just to see the cashier! I was there last Monday having waited in the queue for over half an hour. I spoke to the manager that I needed to withdraw £2000 in £50 notes for my travel abroad, he told me to see Helen the cashier as she had them....gave up my place in the queue to someone else just so that I could wait to see Helen as she was serving a customer only to find out that Helen did not have a single £50 note to give out to me! so waited 40 mins altogether in the queue for nothing! When I told the manager he did not even apologise to me and denied that I even asked him for £2000 in £50 notes! I have been a customer of Natwest in Portsmouth for the last over 22yrs since 1994 and held both personal and business accounts with them and never been treated in this manner before....the High street branch in Sheffield is mismanaged and have very poor standard of customer relations. They truly need to improve on their customer skills and management

The people are terrific - so helpful, always very efficient. The branch itself is really dated and looks like it was last decorated in the eighties - possibly the 1880s.
