A big thank you to everyone who liked, shared or got involved with our Real Nappy Week campaign. We've hired our two kits already this month so it's been really great to see mums and families wanting to make a change and try cloth. We hope this is just the start and we will continue to grow so keep in touch and we hope to see you at a library session soon!

User

Just a reminder that it's our nappy library tomorrow, 2pm at Church of the Good Shepherd, Castlecroft. We are here for advice and questions and will have a selection of nappies for hire in either full or mini kits. We look forward to seeing you!

Real nappies are not hard work! Most are as easy as a disposable to put on and yes they are an extra few washes a week but once in a routine it isn't a big deal. This isn't a big environmental issue either... Go Real estimate the cost of nappy washing over 2.5 years to be just £102 (including water, detergent and electricity) and its widely quoted that washing takes less water than that required to just produce disposable nappies!

User

There are many reasons to choose real nappies but one great one is the fact they keep things in! Minimal poo explosions and leaks are just one benefit and with different types of nappy systems you can find one to suit your baby, lifestyle and pocket...

An excellent article in the Telegraph about trying cloth nappies. Worth a read...

Going 'Real' doesn't just need to mean nappies. Cloth wipes are really effective, good for the environment and we have kits available to hire on their own or alongside nappies. Disposable wipes are the focus of today's challenge with Go Real! The Real Nappy Information Service. Why not try making a change? #challengeforchange

Did you know that using real nappies could save you money compared to disposables, particularly leading brands? There are lots of options available to suit different budgets and although they need an initial investment they can last enough to be used for 2,3 or more children! Buying preloved nappies can save you even more. Trying before you buy and finding what suits you best is one great reason to visit your local nappy library too.

User

Did you know that the average baby uses 4-6000 nappies before they potty train? These almost all end up in landfill and take over 200 years to decompose!! Switching to 1 real nappy a day could save around 900 nappies from landfill. Definitely worth trying...

One of the Real Nappy Week #challengeforchange challenges is to support your local nappy library. So who are we? We are a small library who run once a month alongside the sling library. We have a varied stock of nappies and are looking to improve all the time. We hire full kits and mini kits depending on what suits your requirements. We are happy to chat about anything nappy related and give help and advice where we can. If you've never tried cloth and want to have a go or are a new cloth user who needs some help or even a seasoned cloth bum mum who fancies a nappy chat then come along and visit us! The next library session will be 4th May at 2pm. Venue is Church of the Good Shepherd, Castlecroft.

We are still desperately searching for volunteers to help with demonstrations at our Sling Library sessions. Unfortunately it looks like we can only run a couple more sling sessions and then we will have to close our very popular sling library, which is a massive shame as it has been such an invaluable service to so many local parents.
The library runs on the 1st Saturday of every month but if you can’t commit monthly then it might be possible to run it on a rota basis. We w...ill be holding a sling library training day on the 4th May so this is an ideal opportunity to find out more about what is involved and to meet the current team.
If you would like to volunteer, or it’s something you’ve considered and want to find out more information, please get in touch by either messaging us on our Facebook page or sending an email to slings.wolverhampton@nct.org.uk.
