To raise the awareness of Necrotising Enterocolitis (NEC), support research and families affected by NEC.

Each year in the UK, up to 3, 000 babies develop a serious bowel problem called Necrotising Enterocolitis (NEC). Some babies can develop long-term health problems and Sadly some babies die.

NEC typically strikes without warning and by the time it is diagnosed, babies are often already extremely unwell. Many babies who develop NEC will need emergency surgery to remove damaged parts of their intestines. Some babies will develop a range of health problems from failure to put on weight properly, serious infections and liver damage, nutritional, hearing, vision and movement problems.
