Valio Kuršėnai! A small town in the North West(ish) of Lithuania.
Excited as my home town and I mean the actual area I grew up in is getting a make over to 'achieve a quality standard of living', to attract young families and new businesses, apparently they’ll develop green plant areas, playgrounds and even consider disabled access (this particularly almost unheard of before) - ALL will be taken into account! All according to the New regulations. Funny to think people have be...en living there already for decades... So I am as excited as curious to see Kuršėnai in a couple of years... Part of me is sad to let it go, you know: the wild and beautiful playgrounds (places we've bounced the ball about, played 'war' with wooden sticks, dug about or buried 'floral secrets' or dead pigions). I will treasure my best memories. But I hope the New Design of the areas around those blocks of flats will make all kids&teens happy chappies and ready for their own adulthoods wherever they may choose it to be...
All positive, its just that back in my day (1980s) we used to have a sort of common playground/garden tidying up day!.. which did bring most neighbors out and together we used to plant and tidy up... I hope that all the money spent now will bring people together for a very long and happy life thereafter... . #rural #urban #childhood #development #new #standard of #life #community #happy #planning #change #memories #nostalgia

Starting to dig through drawings on fabric while feeding, what a pleasure of an afternoon... When I get a minute it's much easier to pick up existing drawings, combine them and stitch them or do some slow sewing in the evening when I am too tired to think or focus. No complaints, simply making artwork is different when a 4 month teething baby is around. I was listening to my folk music list and sewing today and thoroughly enjoying myself while Sam was asleep or playing and thought to myself: why aren't I making some conceptual art (the one that makes audience pause, think), why aren't I making some posters (to raise awareness on various global warming, homelessness, gender equality or other social political issues)?.. I concluded that, of course, besides the fact that I simply enjoy making things I am an artist operating/pro...moting a peaceful world, a peaceful way of living. What would our world be like without us, the makers? The makers of the every day to keep all of us (the conceptual, the responsibe and the banal people) going. I think things made by hand and thoughtfully spread some good vibes. At least my home is getting filled with them (from dresses to bags to plant holders). Besides having a baby is quiet a handful !
