About New Beginnings Musical Theatre Group
Everyone would like a new beginning I’m sure, however few of us get the opportunity. Well now you can!
New Beginnings is a musical theatre group who rehearse and perform in collaboration with Brunts School in Mansfield.
7 years ago our daughter Beth was preparing to go off to university in London to study Stage Management. Her wish before leaving Mansfield for ‘that London’ was to create a musical theatre group with her mum, Shelley. Beth hoped a new and inclusive group would benefit the long tradition of amateur musical theatre in Mansfield.
So mum and dad put their hands in their pockets and purchased basic sound and lighting equipment to show how serious we all were in this venture. We asked everyone we knew in the local dance schools and other groups if they would be interested in joining us ‘for some fun’ and the group was born.
7 years later, we have had people join us and leave us, generally the leavers are young adults who have gone off to university but it is fascinating to see the younger children aspire to the being the bigger ones in the group and get even more opportunity for performing front and centre.
To observe young children from the age of 5, who are often reluctant to let go of their parents hand at the beginning, grow in confidence and develop a desire to sing, dance and generally have a great time in front of an audience of discerning Mansfield people is extremely rewarding. We believe the skills learned and developed in this activity carry young people into adulthood and beyond and transfer to any workplace you may think of.
We are looking to grow our group by swelling the numbers of people joining us. Please contact us on the numbers provided.
