Gold Oak Farm Shop - Located on the same site and also run by us, this traditional farm shop sells a selection of outstanding produce from the Farm and surrounding areas. We sell wonderful meat and vegetables with 90% being reared or grown on site by Mr John Butler himself. Kevyn our on site butcher has years of experience and can tailor your cuts to suit size and budget. Keep your eye out for weekly deals and specials, plus mouth watering pictures! Gold Oak Farm - Gold Oak Farm has been owned by the Butler family for nearly 100 years. In the old days it was a small fixed farm with all the work done with horses and manual labour. The first tractor arrived on the farm in about 1950. Around that time my father started selling fresh milk door to door around the local villages. This went hand in hand with the gradual specialisation into dairy farming. This intensification continued until 1986, when Johns father Clifford retired and it was decided to stop dairying and sell the cows and the milk quota to fund his and Johns mothers retirement. At this point the farm changed and became more people focused, the dairy buildings were converted into stables and the close fields are used for horses to graze on. The existing ponds were added and extended to form the basis of the day ticket coarse fishery (now only open to people who stay at the lodges). In the last two years we have increased the farming again and now have almost 100 head of cattle, 30 + pigs (more on the way with our new breeding program), 40 + laying Chickens and 20 odd laying ducks! Sheep were recently moved to a good friend over at Iwerne minster where the land is better for them.
