About New Prospects Association

New Prospects Association is a North East based charity that provides help and support services for adults with learning disabilities, giving people greater control over where and how they live.

New Prospects Association Description

New Prospects offers a variety of services, including independent living assistance, outreach support and community based day activities.

Independent Supported Living:
Supported living allows people to choose how and where they want to live. It is a very successful alternative to residential care. Even people with complex needs can be supported to meet their needs. In a supported living service, people with learning disabilities can choose where they live, how they live, who they live with, who supports them and how they are supported. New Prospects can deliver anything up to and including round-the-clock support. This can include physical assistance with all aspects of personal care, help with finding and furnishing a home, cooking, cleaning, and other aspects of general household chores.

Outreach Support:
The outreach service involves having a support worker team up with a service user to encourage access to community facilities. Service users get help from a support worker to do the activities they enjoy.

Day Services:
New Prospects offer activity sessions based on the interests of the group of people who wish to attend them. There is no obligation or commitment. The group runs sessions based on drama, music, craft activities, film making, healthy cooking / eating, and much more. The group often gets together to plan trips in their dedicated minibus, often out and about in the community for lunch or cinema trip. The day service is open to people of all ages and there's something in it for everyone. Its a great way to get out and meet new people from both New Prospects and the local community. The day opportunity service is based in the Linskill Centre, North Shields which is also host to many other local community groups. Sessions run from 10. 30-12. 00 in the morning, and 1. 30-3. 00 in the afternoon. Tea and coffee is provided and support workers are welcome.
